Interview with Maximo RB
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both, best of both worlds, really, I think for editing, cleaning etc digital is best but I like the imprint, color, harmonic saturation analog.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been doing this for 10 years, being pro. I've been in garage bands di my teens and as many others, I was very intrigued for the recording and mixing. I found that some engineers didn't listen too much to the band and his expectations so I began recording myself and learning.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: For me mood and vibe more is the most important thing and technical is just subedited to this. I don't like bra-clinic, quantized to death, etc productions.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Preproduction is paramount. If you want it loud begin from the composition, arrangement, etc.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock, specially guitar based songs. Anything from retro as rockabilly and garage to punk rock and alt rock. Some roots (Americana, blues) too.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Communication and empathy. I know my task is give technical help to bring to
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Sounds will be bigger and more exciting, Attitude, color ad warmness.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: It's an hybrid setup. My mixer is a nice Studer 963 which I really use for its presentation and for summing, I've a bunch of outboard (Api 2500, Manley VArimu and MiniPassive, Pultecs, 1176, LA2A, 160 DBX VU, Dangerous BAx, etc) . I've got Lynx Hilo converters for mastering and Lynx Aurora (N) for recording and mixing.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Pioneers as Sam Phillips Joe Meek and modern produces that seems to be a paramount importance to mood an impact as Nick Launay Vance Powell
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
