Canvas Portfolio

Animator and artist specializing in hand-drawn & looping animations. I love working with mixed 2D media and am in my happy place when morphing one image into another. I've worked with a wide range of artists, including We The Kings, Melt, and nobody nobody.

Hi, I'm Mollie – Founder of Groovy Cat Studios! I've been a freelancer for over 10 years, but decided to create Groovy Cat last year to pursue my passion for animation. I love working with different types of 2D media to get a unique result for every animation I create. As most of my animations are hand-drawn, I consider each frame to be its own work of art!

Previous projects include Spotify canvas designs, music videos, lyric videos, simple loops for new releases, album art, and GIF stickers.

Mollie did fantastic animations for my band Melt. She created canvases for our singles "Don't Want Me" and "Hours." For those songs, we gave Mollie some designs that we had already and she added movement and life to them. Mollie even created an entire Slotmachine animation for some designs we had. The canvases look great on Spotify and I really enjoy them because they aren't distracting from the song, which I like a lot of canvas's can do. Both songs Mollie made the Canvases for ended up on editorial playlists :) Thank you Mollie!!

Mollie is the best! Her work speaks for itself. She makes the process fun and easy, from conceptualizing through to delivering everything in the right formats. I have worked with Mollie on cover art, lyric videos and Spotify canvases and frankly I look forward to the next chance we get to do something together.

Interview with Groovy Cat Studios

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Why not both?

  3. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  4. A: What does this song mean to you? How do you want your listeners to feel? I find the best projects come from collaboration. I want to create art alongside yours!

  5. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  6. A: my ipad and apple pencil, my computer (or a nicer one if I could get it), my cat, and enough chocolate to fuel me for eternity

  7. Q: How would you describe your style?

  8. A: psychedelic, mesmerizing, transformative, warm & welcoming. Sometimes a little funny too. (Is "groovy" too obvious to add?)

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: I'd love to tell you that I actually work from the nice desk I have set up in my room, but lately, my bed has provided the most inspiration! Maybe that will change when I finally upgrade my computer...
