I offer creative mixing services, whether that is to purely work on the levels and final touches for the mix or to add my creative input for arrangement and instrumentation. It's the complete package, taking your songs to that next level by giving you a new unique angle.
I have been a musician for over 10 years and an audio professional for 5. As an artist myself, specialising in dance music, I take influence from all genres and being a songwriter as well gives me an understanding to the processes and thoughts involved in writing music. Not only can I engineer a mix, but, if required can input my opinions and take a track to that next level. I have had music released on Independent label Ram Records, and know what it takes to get your music out there. I'd love to hear about your project so get in touch!

Interview with Jake Matthews
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill would have to be variance, because I take influence from so many different genres, I enjoy working on almost anything and can bring my sound and skillset to the table.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring impact and shape to a song, I like for music to have layers and textures as it gives more to a listener. This partnered with good stereo imaging and dynamics can make a song pop out of the speakers and really speak to the listener.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: For mixing I always listen through making notes for first impressions, then I'll decide what the most suitable reference track would be (if the client hadn't already specified). The mixing process would then begin with drum processing first followed by the bass (to get the backbone of the track strong), once the base is solid I work from there usually leaving vocals till last (being mindful to leave space in the mix for them).
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: It runs off a 2020 Macbook Pro, I have various hardware synths like the Korg Minilogue and the Modal Electonics Argon 8. I also use Elektron's Digitakt for most beat creation or groovebox needs. For the rest of the instruments I have a Fender Telecaster, PRS 245 and a Sire M7 Bass. I Mix in the box with various different Plug-Ins (Slate, Fabfilter, Izotope, Soundtoys, Waves, Softube...) on Logic Pro, and for monitoring use Krk Rokits, Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro's (and some Hi-Fi speakers to test on).
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am fascinated by artists such as Miles Davis and Barry Harris, as their writing and harmonising takes music to a different place. As for production professionals, I love all the work Andrew Scheps is doing.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most common work would be mixing peoples music, engineering and recording.
