Billboard quality drums from virtually any era!
SERVICES/SPECIALTY:
I'm offering billboard quality sounding drums from virtually any era and style. Backwater blues to Led Zeppelin to modern pop; I can do it all!! Music is fun, and I will try to infuse as much of it as I can into your tracks. I use only the highest quality mics, drums and cymbals.
BIO:
My name's David, I'm 25, and I'm from Winnipeg, Canada. I've been playing drums since I was about 5 years of age. Rhythm has always consumed me so drums were a natural fit. I grew up in a household where both of my parents and my 3 siblings played music. 2 of my siblings are professional musicians themselves, and from them I have learned and had many opportunities through which to grow as a musician and person. I have also taken piano lessons from ages 6-11, and have sang in numerous choirs and vocal jazz groups during my formal education.
EXPERIENCE:
I have been making money as a drummer since I was 16. My first ever gig was drumming for my brother-in-law's high school jazz guitar program. Since then, I have performed in many bands (cover and original), performed more than a dozen musicals, and performed with some of my cities most sought after musicians in some of its most fantastic venues (Centennial Concert Hall, Convention Centre, Theatres).

Interview with David Rozgonyi
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I recently did a job for the WInnipeg Junior Chorus. My job was to create a drum part for their cover of the song "Beside You' by Marianas Trench. I took some liberty and added some strings (plucked and bowed), extra percussion, and some pads, and the director was blown away!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog 100%. It's cheaper and is easier to fix!
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: You get what you pay for!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Aron Mellergardh, Henrik Linder, Jonah Nillson, Max Martin, Gene Krupa, Bernard Purdie, Benny Greb, Jeff Porcaro
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Live session recording of drums
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I record my drums in an acoustically treated home studio to the mic pres on my 22 channel mixer. From there, each channel signal goes into my DAW where I process the tracks.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I play the the song a few times to get some ideas (taking into account what the client has requested). Then I lay down a track. I'll punch in wherever necessary. Then I'll render a quick mix and send it to the client for revisions. If/when no revisions are necessary, I'll polish up each individual track with gates etc. and label them clearly, then email them to the client.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm just finishing up my portfolio of tracks for my profile.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise is that they will be beyond satisfied (hopefully *crosses fingers*) with their drum track and that it will be done on time. Many a midnight oil will be burned!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: That I get to do what I love, set my own hours and work from home (honestly, it's a dream come true).
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Why are you expensive? My answer is that I've spent my life learning my craft, and I'm very good at what I do haha
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I spend most of my time drumming. Most of the time I spend in front of the pc crafting the wav's to make them perfect.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: How soon would you need it completed by? Do you want the stems or just stereo mix? Do you want them processed (highly recommended btw) or raw?
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: DW 18x22 Collectors Series Purple Heart Kick (ultra white marine), DW 6.5x14 Collectors Series Purple Heart Snare (ultra white marine), Sabian 14" Legacy Hi-hats, Sabian 18" Legacy Crash, Yamaha 9ft Concert Grand (White),
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been doing this my whole life haha
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Precise and felt.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: John Lennon. I think we'd get along great.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Mix at low volumes.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Anything. Though fusion is by far the most fun.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I'm a perfectionist. The track HAS to be perfect or it won't leave my pc.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a passion for music and the ability to infuse groove and most importantly, fun, into every song. I want to make sure that, if you're going to re record over my drum track, that I give you every inspiration and foundation upon which to make you play your best.
