Adam Aldo on SoundBetter

Music producer for the musician, because I am one too. I specialize in Pop and Alternative production. I play mostly piano, electric ukulele, bass and drums. I've studied music theory and composition for years and use strings to create tension and drama in many tracks. Let's make some tears together.

I specialize in singles and demo production for singer/songwriters. Message me if you want to know more.

"Adam was amazing to work with! He helped create my ideas into something beyond my original expectations. Will always look forward to working with him!" - Chris Cassara

“Adam is a top notch producer. I have worked on a handful of songs with him. The best in the business. We most recently remixed a track that we made years ago and it turned out excellent. I highly recommend Adam for your music project.” - Josh Michaels

"Adam is a world class string arranger and producer. His work adds so much life and depth to our productions. He's one of my go to guys. I can't complete a record without having him onboard!" - Vian Izak

Interview with Adam Aldo

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I was hired by Juniper Vale to program strings for their single Sail On and I'm proud of the composition, using multiple string libraries and articulations to make them happy.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I'm working on a grunge rock single because I feel like screaming into my SM7b.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Elliot James Mulhern for mastering my personal demo.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital because of workflow.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: To treat your music as I would my own and for both parties to be satisfied with the result.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Making music from scratch brings me great joy.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Pricing, revisions and timeline. All are discussed and agreed based on the project's needs.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: I do not load up a plugin preset and use it just as is, I always make it something new.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What message are you trying to send with this song? What are some songs that inspired you to make this? What sounds or instruments do you enjoy hearing in a song? How big or small (intimate) do you want the song to feel? What would the deadline be for this project? Would this song be a single or part of an album?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: I am empathetic and care about someone's music because it's a part of who they are, and I respect all forms of art.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: iMac, Clarett, headphones, Avantone CV12 and my Ukulele of course.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I studied music theory and piano performance for years, continued in college, switched majors to Audio Engineering, fell in love with producing in Logic and never stopped since.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Cinematic and Alternative.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: It would be a dream to work with Eminem one day. His music got me through hard times, and I can relate to his self-doubt, an always pushing to be better attitude.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Be happy with the source of sound or sample quality while recording, instead of mixing harder to try and fix things later on.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I usually work on EDM or Alternative/Rock type music.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: I was raised classically on piano and apply what I've learned to many instruments.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I tend to make darker/sad sounding music with deep reverbs and strings. I can make a song feel cinematic.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I typically start with a riff or rhythmic loop and add layers from there. I like to arrange the song into sections so I can loop record and comp the best take. Then, I'll flesh out the rest of the song with drums and bass, adding strings and pads for a deeper sound. I do the same with vocals and use Melodyne to pitch correct, then start mixing.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I run Logic Pro X on an iMac with a Focusrite Clarett 4pre. My favorite mics are the Avantone CV12, SM7b and SM81. I own a couple rack units and use effects from my guitar pedalboard as well as plugins from Waves, FabFilter, etc...

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Coldplay, Illenium and Chevelle all inspire me because of their signature sounds and emotional pull.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I provide fully produced tracks for demos, record or program stems and mixing.
