Ray Jackson, professionally known as Azobé Sound, is a seasoned audio producer and sound engineer with extensive experience in music production, mixing, mastering, and beat creation. With a 20-year career spanning education, studio work, and content creation, he combines technical precision with creative flair to deliver high-quality audio experiences across genres and platforms.
Mr. Jackson has produced and engineered a variety of independent music projects, offering services in recording, mixing, and mastering. His work showcases a deep understanding of both analog and digital audio workflows, employing industry-standard tools such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, and a wide range of plug-ins and hardware processors. He also brings a unique musical sensibility to programming music, crafting original compositions that blend genre influences with modern production techniques.
Azobé Sound collaborations include editing and post-production work for podcasts and numerous independent audio and video projects. He is a certified AVID Pro Tools Instructor with affiliations in multiple audio education advisory groups. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been on this path for 20 years. I remain a student to the process even as a teacher.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Electric
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: No one cares about what a mix looks like. They care about what it sounds like.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is my ability to respond to feedback and still meet a deadline.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My current setup is a hybrid that consists of my bass and amp, Yamaha keyboard, and MIDI controller for composition. For analog processors I use a dbx1046 compressor, Rolls 160b parametric EQ, Rane Graphic EQ, and a Behringer Virtualizer.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am inspired by the live sound of artists of all genres. The list ranges from Dave Matthews band to Scott Strickland. I enjoy hip-hop production and electronic artists such as the sound from Daft Punk.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most often I edit audio for podcasts and mix audio for artists. I also create music for multimedia releases.
