Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: I start by asking what makes the song unmistakably yours. I want to understand where the project is now, what is already working, what feels unresolved, and how far you want me to push the production. I’ll ask for a few reference tracks (not just what you like about them, but what specifically connects with you). I also ask about your audience, release goals, timeline, deliverables, budget, and who will be involved in approvals. Just as important, I want to know what you don’t want changed. Those questions help me determine whether I’m the right fit and create a clear, plan that protects the artist’s identity while moving the record toward its strongest possible version.

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: Look for someone who understands what makes you distinctive; not just someone who can recreate a reference track. Come prepared with your strongest demo, a few focused references, your goals for the release, and an honest sense of what is and isn’t working yet. The best results come when an artist has a clear point of view and remains open to collaboration. Credits and technical ability matter, but so do communication, trust, and the producer's ability to truly connect with the song. Hire someone who will challenge the record when needed, protect your identity, and make every decision in service of the song and the audience.

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: I’ve been working professionally in music for more than 15 years. My path started on the live side—as a music director, touring musician, and show programmer: building intros, transitions, and production elements designed to make an audience come alive. That experience taught me how arrangement, dynamics and sound can shape the emotional impact of a performance. Producing records grew naturally from that work. Walker Hayes and other artists responded to what I was creating for their live shows and began bringing me into the studio to help develop their music. That moved me from the venue into production, mixing and programming. Since then, I’ve worked across every side of the process, from building tracks and shaping arrangements to mixing finished records. My live background still influences how I produce today: every section should create momentum, serve the artist and connect with the listener.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: Build the production around what makes the artist unmistakable. Start with the vocal phrasing, lyrical hook, or rhythmic idea that gives the song its personality, then make every sound support it. A simple, distinctive part with space for the artist will usually have more impact than an arrangement filled with unnecessary layers.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: I start by understanding the artist, the song, and the intended outcome. We discuss references, creative direction, deliverables, timeline, and any technical needs before work begins. From there, I organize the session and work methodically through arrangement, production, editing, and mixing, making sure each decision serves the song. I share progress at key stages so we can align before moving forward, then address feedback through focused, consolidated revisions. Before delivery, I complete a detailed quality-control check across multiple listening environments and provide clearly labeled, release-ready files. My process is structured and thorough, but always collaborative and flexible enough to protect the artist’s identity.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: I’m inspired by producers and mixers who combine strong musical instincts with technical excellence—people like Max Martin for his songwriting and pop architecture, Greg Kurstin for his versatility and musicianship, Rick Rubin for his artist-first approach, and Serban Ghenea for mixes that feel powerful, polished and emotional. I’m also continually inspired by great songwriters and session musicians who know how to serve the song without overcomplicating it.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: Most often, I produce and mix songs from demo to release-ready master. I help artists refine the arrangement, build the track through live instrumentation and programming, shape the vocal production, and deliver a polished mix that feels current while preserving the artist’s identity. I also provide additional production and mixing for tracks that are already well developed.
