Endorse Natty ValenciaI had a phenomenal experience working with Natty. She delivered high-quality, professional grade vocal stems (that sounded AMAZING) in a short turnaround time for the project I was producing. She is very easy to work with, demonstrates exceptional skill, talent and professionalism and I will definitely be hiring her again for future projects. Couldn't recommend enough.
Interview with Natty Valencia
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Check-your posture when you're in a long session!!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: If I'm singing on your project, it's important to me that I nail any nuanced emotions that you're going for in your demo. That said, I will ask you questions about the kind of vocal performance you're looking for.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I like to write and edit at my desk so I can listen loud in my ATH-M50x's, but I do all my recording in my vocal booth. I use a Shure SM7B microphone, Apogee Duet interface, and operate in Logic Pro X. Plugins - I use the latest versions of Waves plugins, CLA Vocals, some Soundtoys, Revoice Pro, FabFilter Pro EQ, and Autotune suite (to name a few!).
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work I do for clients is record vocals on a song that is already written. Within that, I also do light vocal production (sometimes more) and comp & tune my own vocals.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will strive to over communicate with you so we get it right on the first try!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: 1. What are a few professionally released songs that you can refer me to as a vision for your song? 2. Would you like me to arrange background vocals, harmonies, and come up with ad-libs? 3. How soon do you need this to be done done?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: 1. Definitely listen to my reel so you know what to expect when it comes to tone, technique, and style. 2. Send over as much direction as you can regarding your vision - I love references and will always do my best to nail the style you're going for! And 3. Simply start the conversation by messaging me! There's no pressure to commit to working together after we speak- I want you to get the right sound for your project, and if I don't think it's me, I'll try to recommend someone!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My younger brother once said to me, "Your signature look is that you've got a lot of different looks".
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Ooh there's so many. Right now, Julia Michaels, Jon Bellion, and Tayla Parx.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Definitely singing :) arranging vocals & writing top line melody and lyrics are tied for second.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Vocally, I love Jhené Aiko, India Carney, Dua Lipa and Tori Kelly. These women have range for days! On the songwriting and production side, I pull a lot of inspiration from Ryan Tedder, Jon Bellion, and The Monsters & Strangerz.
