am a professional mixing and mastering engineer in Lebanon, based in Beirut, working with artists, labels, and brands worldwide. With over 10 years of experience in audio engineering and music production, I deliver release-ready sound for streaming platforms, clubs, broadcast, and commercial use.

My background includes formal studies in audio engineering, acoustics, wave propagation, and signal processing, supported by a foundation in computer and telecommunications engineering. This technical expertise allows me to achieve clarity, balance, loudness control, and translation across all listening environments.

Through Lux Audio, I provide high-end mixing, mastering, sound design, and production services for a wide range of genres, including Pop, Electronic, Techno, Afro House, Melodic House & Techno, Commercial music, and Arabic music. I also work on DJ mixes, multi-track releases, and branded audio projects requiring precision and consistency.

Interview with Ali Khatoun - Lux Audio

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I’m particularly proud of projects where I handled mixing, mastering, and sound direction across multiple tracks, helping artists achieve a cohesive, professional release that translated well across clubs, streaming platforms, and commercial systems.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Currently working on a mix of artist releases, electronic music projects, and commercial audio, including multi-track projects that require consistency across full releases.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I respect many professionals on SoundBetter and believe in collaboration when a project benefits from multiple specialists.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Both. Digital offers precision and flexibility, while analog brings character and depth. A hybrid approach allows me to use the best of both worlds.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: Professionalism, clear communication, and a final result that meets the highest standards. I’m committed to delivering work that aligns with your vision and expectations.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Helping artists and brands hear their work at its full potential. Turning a good idea into a polished, professional final result is what motivates me most.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Clients often ask how long the process takes. My answer is that quality comes first, but I always work efficiently and communicate clearly so timelines are respected without compromising results.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That mixing or mastering is just about loudness. In reality, it’s about balance, translation, emotion, and consistency, ensuring the music works everywhere it’s played.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I ask about their references, target platforms, deadline, and expectations, as well as how they plan to release or use the audio. This helps align the process from the start.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Be clear about your vision, references, and goals, and choose a provider you trust creatively and technically. Good communication is the key to achieving a result you’ll be proud to release.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: A reliable monitoring solution, reference headphones, a versatile audio interface, a laptop with my core tools, and one creative instrument or controller. Accuracy and flexibility matter more than quantity.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I have over 10 years of experience in music production and audio engineering. My background includes formal studies in audio, acoustics, and telecommunications engineering, followed by years of hands-on work with artists, producers, and commercial projects both locally and internationally.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Clean, powerful, and modern. My style prioritizes clarity, depth, and impact, while respecting the identity of the artist or brand. The result is polished audio that feels confident, timeless, and professional.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I enjoy working with artists who have a clear artistic identity and are open to collaboration. Whether established or emerging, the most rewarding projects are those where vision, trust, and communication are strong.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Always make decisions based on context, not solo listening. A sound that works perfectly on its own may not serve the song as a whole. Focus on balance and translation rather than isolated perfection.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: work across a wide range of styles, including Pop, Electronic, Techno, Afro House, Melodic House & Techno, Commercial music, Brand audio, and Arabic music. I regularly adapt my approach depending on the genre and final use case.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is combining deep technical knowledge of audio engineering and signal processing with a strong musical sensibility. This allows me to deliver polished, powerful results that are both creative and technically reliable.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring clarity, direction, and consistency. Beyond technical quality, I focus on enhancing the emotional impact of the music while ensuring it translates across all playback systems. My goal is to elevate the song without changing its identity.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I start by understanding the artist’s or brand’s vision, references, and target platforms. From there, I focus on balance, dynamics, clarity, and impact, working methodically while keeping the musical intention intact. Revisions are handled efficiently, and the project is only finalized once it fully meets professional and client expectations.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: My studio is a hybrid analog-digital environment built for accuracy and translation. It features professional monitoring, reference-grade headphones, carefully controlled acoustics, and a curated selection of digital and analog tools. The setup is optimized to ensure mixes translate perfectly across clubs, streaming platforms, consumer systems, and high-end sound systems.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I’m inspired by producers and engineers who combine musical emotion with technical precision, especially those shaping modern electronic, pop, and hybrid commercial sounds. I also draw inspiration from engineers working in film, advertising, and high-end brand audio, where clarity and impact are essential.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I primarily work on mixing, mastering, and production for artists, labels, and brands, delivering release-ready audio for streaming platforms, clubs, broadcast, and commercial use. This includes single tracks, EPs, albums, DJ mixes, and branded audio content, always with a strong focus on sonic consistency and professional standards.
