What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
I have been singing for over 10 years. I started young and full of hope auditioning for local theatre productions and Jazz bands in Reno, NV where I was raised. I was a featured soloist for Reno Youth Jazz Orchestra throughout high school and was a soloist winner for my high school and Jazz Orchestra for the Reno Jazz Festival in 2010. I sang in a rock band for for two years while living in Reno until I moved to NYC at the age of 18. I've recorded for independent movie sound tracks, and was a featured vocalist on various songwriter's albums. I've recorded radio promos, as well as sang National Anthems for NFL games including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orlean's Saints, the Reno Aces Baseball team, The Nevada Big Horns, The Nevada Wolf Pack, Reno Rodeo, The National Rodeo, and Real Salt Lake. in 2013 I was a contestant of Team Usher on NBC's The Voice Season 4 (who cares though, right?) I released a Solo EP shortly after my time on the show. I'm currently a member of the band ALKE along side Jameson Flood, which was formed in Feb 2016, . We reside in Los Angeles.
Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
ALKE's song "Indigo" was such a fun experience and was equally as challenging. I wrote all the lyrics and melody and was able to co-produce with Jameson Flood. He has a powerful work ethic and the ability to listen and try all ideas to capture the best moments. Indigo is a great representation of my writing ability, vocal performance combined with Jameson's incredible production skills.
What are you working on at the moment?
Working on finishing the next 4 songs for ALKE
Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
Jameson Flood. All day hands down. Oh, and Chloe Jacobson too.
Analog or digital and why?
Work with what you can get your hands on. Wether it's digital, anolog or both, find what's best for your song. Find what suites you. Use what you got. I say either.
What's your 'promise' to your clients?
You'll get your product on time.
What do you like most about your job?
Connecting with the most amazing people on the planet, artists!
What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
"Would you be interested in singing on this track for free? You'll get a lot of exposure."
What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
Find a person that connects with your project the way you do. Never try to convince someone to believe in what you're setting out for.
What type of music do you usually work on?
I work on anything that includes the genres of pop, Jazz, R&B, Country, and alternative. I often do feature work for EDM producers and DJs. I co-write for artists including lyrics and melody.
What's your typical work process?
Depending on the project I'm working on it varies. A typical day for me and my own personal music agenda consists of a pen and paper, a piano, and my voice. I work very consistently with Jameson Flood on music for ALKE and one thing we've realized for our writing style alone is that there are no formulas. We try things differently almost every time.
Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
I often receive requests for features for EDM tracks or for producers needing a lead vocal, background vocals, added harmonies, and voice over work. I write lyrics, melodies, and have the ability to record and engineer myself.
I can simply be the voice for your project, or I can offer my own creative input.
