I am dedicated to your happiness. Hard work ethic and agreeable demeanor. I won't stop working until you are happy with the final product.

While obtaining my Audio Engineering degree, I got to learn from the music industry's top engineers:
- Dave Poler (Michael Jackson, Kanye West, Missy Elliot, Justin Bieber, Timbaland, Beck, Santana)
- Sean McMahon (Slipknot, Marilyn Manson)
- Doug Olson (Smashing Pumpkins, L7)

Since then I have been recording, mixing, & mastering local bands in the midwest.
My biggest inspiration is the music and production of BRAND NEW, Nirvana, Death Cab for Cutie, Tigers Jaw, Jay-Z, Lupe Fiasco, Modest Mouse, Goth Babe, and Emancipator among others.

I LOVE mixing for emo, screamo, alternative rock, grunge, hip hop, singer/songwriter, and indie rock bands.
I have done live sound mixing for Mike Mains and the Branches, Briar Rabbit, and Illmaculate. In 2013, I was awarded the Madison Hip Hop Awards, "Engineer of the Year."

I provide music mixing and mastering as well as podcast editing, mixing, and mastering services and can also be hired as a session musician for acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and bass guitar.

Third song that Oliver has mixed and mastered for us. We have really come to rely on his expertise. For this song, he mixed over 50 separate tracks to create a cohesive sound, and we are very happy with the results.

Interview with Sound Wright (Oliver Wright)

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: You will receive an end result that you are in love with.

  3. Q: How would you describe your style?

  4. A: My style is a punchy but balanced, loud but dynamic, edgy but round, bright but soft, saturated with goodness mix. It's clean, balanced, and ready for airplay.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: BOTH. Certain songs/projects demand analog gear and others don't. I love running drums to tape through an SSL 4000! Mixing 'in the box' is just so much easier. Running some outboard gear during mixing is great of course as well.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: Being able to be creative.

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: Rock, Emo, Alternative Rock, Garage Rock, Punk, Indie Pop, Hip Hop.

  11. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  12. A: I bring my own artistic creativity. As a musician, singer, and songwriter myself I can contribute musical ideas and vision to collaborate for the best end result.

  13. Q: What's your typical work process?

  14. A: Listen to a rough cut of the song first. Jot down any initial ideas I have, then ask the artist what their vision is for the song/album. Then share any thoughts or ideas I had and see if the artist is interested in trying any of them. Start working on a quick rough mix for the artist to make sure the direction and/or ideas are going as intended. Check in to see if any adjustments or additions need to be made. Continue mixing the track, delivering drafts, and communicating with the artist for feedback.

  15. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  16. A: Musicians/Bands: Brand New, Death Cab for Cutie, Bon Iver, Kevin Devine, Tigers Jaw, Goth Babe, Modest Mouse, Nirvana, Manchester Orchestra, All Get Out, Pedro the Lion, Citizens, Mansions. Producers/Engineers: Mike Sapone, Butch Vig, Justin Vernon, Steve Albini.

  17. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  18. A: Music editing, mixing, and mastering. Podcast editing. Production. Noise reduction.

  • The Outfield Clovers - Dating AdviceJul 27, 2023

I mixed & mastered "Dating Advice" & it has garnered over 13k listens in under 5 months as of 7/25/23. It has been featured on 21 playlists one of which has over 5k likes. I noticed open space in the high frequency range & filled it very subtly with a synth pad in various parts of the song that complimented the dynamics present.
