This is the second time I have worked with Luciano and again a fantastic experience. He is really quick but also provides a top quality result, on this occasion there were a couple of things i needed tweaked and they were completed within a few hours, which was great because I was on a dead line. Highly recommend Luciano and will be working with him again soon.

Luciano mixed and mastered my song 'Everything's Fine', I have worked with multiple producers in the past and he has been one of the best. The first mix he sent me was right on the money and then he made a couple of small adjustments that I requested almost immediately. He was particularly great on my vocals. His communication and speed in getting me a mix etc was impressive, so nice to be able to get work done straight away to such a high quality. Will be using his services again for sure.

So Luciano approached me on Insta asking to mix my music. It wasn't the first time this happened and past experiences with this type of thing were not great. But, he showed me a mix that exceeded expectations. Then, I said he could mix the whole thing and was pleasantly surprised by how well he followed suggestions. He is awesome.

Interview with Luciano Scianca

  1. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  2. A: Give opportunities to producers who may not have won 4 grammys or don't have billions of strems. They can have equal or better results

  3. Q: What's your typical work process?

  4. A: If I'm mixing, I like to listen to music first. Before I hurriedly get to work. I usually listen to music similar to what I'm about to work on. Sometimes not, completely different things, but to "warm up a little". Then I start organizing the project, grouping tracks, gain stagin. I start mixing with just the faders, a first "mix" without plug-ins to try to put everything in its place before processing. If I'm producing I like to listen to music that doesn't have so much to do with what I'm about to work on. Sometimes it brings new ideas. I start with the rhythmic thing like the beat or the tempo with which we are going to work on the song, seeing if the melody flows with that speed and rhythm. I like to work with samples, layers and try to ensure that each instrument occupies its correct place in the song.

  5. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  6. A: Right now I'm mixing One album, two Eps and two singles. I'm also producing producing an ep

  7. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  8. A: Yeah. I know Andres Mayo. He is one of the best mixing and master engineers in Argentina.

  9. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  10. A: I have analog equipment and sometimes it gives me ideas that digital doesn't. and the digital gives me speed that the analog does not.

  11. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  12. A: My promise is that I will deliver a product that meets your expectations and that I will accept all the feedback and revisions that are necessary until we reach that result.

  13. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  14. A: What I like most is learning. And then take what I learned to my next production. I like it when a client is happy with my work and listeners appreciate the searching sound of a musical project, whether it be a single, an album or even an interlude.

  15. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  16. A: The most frequently asked question is how long it takes to have the job finished. And I usually answer that in the time they need it, as long as it is reasonable with what they are asking of me.

  17. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  18. A: Sometimes it is misunderstood or there are too many people. even artists who don't understand the purpose of the mix. They think it is the same as production. Maybe in some cases it is....

  19. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  20. A: I usually ask for audio references. This is used to know what expectations the client has for your work. And also as a guide to produce, mix, master

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: I would take an acoustic guitar My sampler a synthesizer Some headphones and of course my computer hahaha

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: Music has been my job for 8 years, but it has always been a fundamental part of my life.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: I define myself as a person in constant learning. I like to share with other producers or musicians. Give and receive feedback on my songs. Know what they think. Advice, views

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would like to work with Elliot Moss. He is a musician and producer that I admire a lot. I really like his songs and I think I would learn a lot from him.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Try to capture the ideas you have and record them. Don't worry so much about the audio. Sometimes even those takes that are demo end up being final versions of songs. Give yourself room for improvisation and error!!!!

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I like to work on alternative rock, pop and hip hop. But now more than anything mixing these genres with touches of electronic and a lot of synthesis

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: I think one of my good skills is that I give a little more than what the client is looking for. Always with respect and maintaining the artist's vision. I look to add something from post-production that contributes to the feeling of the song. And I arrive at many of those results by testing combinations of unusual processes and instruments.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I'm more into adding texture and color if the song asks for it. I like to add overdrives, distortions, tape harmonics. I like to work on songs thinking about the environment they have to take me to as a listener. Working on instruments that require a specific spatiality within the mix. I am very picky about transitions, I think they are very important parts that mark the steps from one section to another and make the listener enter the environment that the artist wants to create.

  37. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  38. A: Interfaces and converters Antelope, Roland Sp Mkii Epiphone Les Paul Mexican Fender Stratocaster Korg Minilogue Akg 414 Bauman Duck (U87 clone) Senheizer HD 650

  39. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  40. A: Radiohead, Tame Impala, Gorillaz, Led Zeppelin, Sufjan Stevens, Elliot Moss, David Bryne, The Beatles, Lisandro Aristimuño, Gustavo Cerati, Charly Garcia, Luis ALberto Spinetta,

  41. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  42. A: I mainly do mixing and mastering. I also work in production. I like to sample, shape the audio and transform it into something new
