Dan is an incredible musician, producer, songwriter, and engineer. I have been working with him for over 15 years and his talent never ceases to amaze me. His workflow is quick paced, he is a wizard at his DAW stations and his turnaround time is unbelievably impressive. He is a phenomenal pianist, keyboardist, and multi-instrumentalist and can play in many styles and genres. He has an extensive knowledge of music theory which makes him well equipped for various projects as a songwriter and producer. He is great in every capacity!
Interview with DanTheBand
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: The best thing you can do is to remove the song from the production. If the song can exist on its own, then it's a GREAT candidate for a full production.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started working on tracks in the late 90's in my home studio. I since began performing with artists like Fabolous, Ellie Goulding, Sean Paul. I have worked on their music in the studio and have worked in sessions with some of the biggest producers and writers in the world.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I love to take a clients music and give it the extra push it needs to get taken seriously by industry and fans. I love to write songs with clients and help them structure their music to be competitve in the marketplace.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Intelligent, pop-infused dancehall with a side of jazz.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is working with clients. I was raised by teachers and love learning and imparting that knowledge to help people.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work Ryan Tedder as I think he is one of the most complete songwriter/producers of the past 10 years.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I love to work on pop music, hip-hop, dancehall/reggae, edm, chill, synthwave and VGM style music.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Melody, lyrics, production and arrangement are ALL important to creating amazing sounding records. I help clients assure all of these things are as great as they can be.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I love to work with clients by analyzing all of what they have already there, then serving them to get the best out of their material possible.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Max Martin, Cirkut, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Sean Paul, Fabolous, Greg Kurstin.
