Phil Marques is a musician, songwriter and videographer based in Ontario, Canada. He has worked alongside musicians, athletes, and content creators on various different projects. His debut instrumental EP “Home Away From Home” is the first piece of music he wrote as a solo artist.

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Solar baritone 6 string, Revv Generator 120, Torpedo X Captor, a 2x12 cabinet, and a power supply of some sort.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My main signal chain for recording is my guitar/bass going into my Focusrite Scarlett Solo Interface, into my MacBook then into my DAW (Logic Pro X). And I usually various different plugins from STL Tones, Neural DSP, & Mixwave depending on the project.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Tait Garrett, Nic Outram, and Melvin Murray I'd consider to be the dream team when it comes to both performance and production standouts!
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I have previously worked with 2 SoundBetter artists for songs; Christina Rotondo (Session Singer) & Ryan Stead (Session Guitarist)! Both insanely talented and kind musicians, would definitely recommend them for sure!
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be prepared.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Easily Dallas Green (City and Colour, Alexisonfire). I really admire his writing style both lyrically and instrumentally, and his way of storytelling just moves you.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hard Rock, Alternative, Metal.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I've mostly done sound mixing and sound editing for various projects whether it's for music or film production. Right now I wanna focus more on enhancing my songwriting skills.
