Interview with Lex Paris

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Communication is key. Ideally we'll chat before any work gets started and get a feel for the vision for the song/project. Be honest, I (as I'm sure are other providers) want you to be happy with the result & would much rather you say if you don't like something or have a different idea for how you want the mix to sound. This is also why I offer unlimited revisions. I'm not happy until you are!
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most commonly I will either mix & master a track for an artist, a track may require some production prior to mixing, or I will fully produce a track with the artist, then mix & master it if requested.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on Pop/Electronic music but have worked on indie, pop/rock, singer-songwriter and more.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: An ear for a modern, crisp & 'pop' sound whilst keeping the focus on the amazing song the artist has created.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: When I do a mix, I try to make it as dynamic and interesting as possible. Adding depth, space, tension & release where necessary. I'll also add production if needed & if the artist is ok with this to enhance the mix.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I treat every song as if it were my own project. That means I give it the care and attention to detail it needs to truly flourish. I'll work closely with the artist & offer multiple revisions until we get the sound they are looking for.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I currently work out of my home studio in the South of England.

A: I am inspired by an array of artists, producers & engineers. These include (in no particular order!); Al Schmitt, Kygo, Disclosure, Ian Kirkpatrick, JP Saxe, Zedd, Tchad Blake, Malay & Lauv.
