Interview with FISHTANK
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Multiple projects for Armada Music.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: To get to do what I love every single day.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: what would you want the story to be behind your song?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Hire someone that really knows what he is talking about. A lot of people can say that they do this and that but if they don't know how to connect to what they are making it won't work out as you would have expected.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Just my laptop and a good pair of studio monitors and off course 4 pioneer cdjs.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been doing this since I was 12 years old.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I describe my style as the new wave of house music.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with tiesto. He has really been my idol and we have a similar style in music so I feel like we could create something amazing.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Really try to find yourself in your music. You will get the most out of it if you can really connect and relate to what you are making.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on my own in-depend releases but now I'm starting to get into making music for others.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is straight up music production. I have been producing for over 8 years now.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I really try to bring my own emotions in to a song. U know if I feel very happy and excited I want to show it, especially in the drop which is the most exciting part of a song.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My typical work process is to mainly search for a nice vocal and build a track around that.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio set up is very simple. All I need is my laptop my pair of rokit 8 studio monitors, a recording mic and a midi keyboard. However I also have access to a professional studio at Westminster studios to really get that professional finish.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Music producers such as Tiesto, Martin Garrix, Marshmello, and Yellow Claw really inspire me to keep doing what I love.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I'm mainly specialised in producing tracks from scratch. However I really enjoy finishing a track that you already started and really collaborating with other producers. That way I get to share my ideas and knowledge and the other way around.
