Mona Soul on SoundBetter

I am a melodic singer, songwriter and rapper. I strive for an experimental approach to music which brings an exciting new life to the R&B/Soul/Rap culture while staying true to the traditional values that make it the most progressive and unique genre. I am a singer, songwriter and rapper who continuously works and evolves to hone my craft.

Mona Soul, born Jasmine Rorie in Northern Virginia, is an emerging force in R&B, Soul, and Hip Hop, known for blending experimental soundscapes with the genre’s foundational roots. She laid the groundwork for her official debut in 2016.

Since then, Mona has released two EPs and multiple singles while writing more than 30 songs for independent artists. A turning point came in 2021 at the “Girl Talk Writing Camp,” where she secured three album placements: co-writing “Stallions” and “Phil of the Future,” along with her own track “Tsunami.” Her collaboration with Gingerr Rust on “Stallions” reached number 23 on Spotify’s Fresh Finds: Hip Hop playlist.

Mona’s catalog also includes co-writing contributions for songs developed for high-profile artists such as Iyla, Rihanna, and Cardi B. She gained early recognition in 2020 as a finalist in Derek Ali’s “Twitch” Indie Artist Competition and later performed on the main stage of the Philippine series Kumu. In 2024, her work earned nominations for Best R&B/Soul Artist and Best R&B/Soul Song at the 36th Annual Wammie Music Awards.

In 2025, she celebrated a major career milestone with the placement of her song “Butterflies” in the Netflix and Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin Film ‘Ruth and Boaz”.

Wow! Mona Soul is bringing that vibe music back. Every song has a groove to it. Like Erykah Badu, or Lauryn Hill. Sweet.
