The second minute is the production work I did to revamp and refresh the song with an entirely new Aria Cruz version!
A little about myself, I've been in Los Angeles for about 7 years. The city has offered me many great connections in the world of music and I have learned a lot. Now its time for me to give back some of this knowledge, and charge a little of course! I grew up playing guitar but decided I was in love with the bass later on. Music production and song writing came naturally to me at a young age. I wrote my first full song at 16. Put out my first album at 23 and continue to work with different projects and bands. I'm currently a member of an incredible group known as "The Lovepools". I play bass and help write and produce the songs for our up coming releases. Apart from that I have my own musical productions that will be releasing later this year! Hopefully I will be able to collaborate with as many wonderfully talented individuals on this platform and around the world!

Interview with Aria Cruz
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Still related to music but in a different way. I was executive producer and I starred in our first full length official music video. It was for our song "White Lies & Palm trees". I feel very proud of the work we did on the song and the video came out to be very cool.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Im working on a song I wrote and am now producing individually with a talented vocalist friend of mine. Also helping my band The Lovepools finish new tracks and getting ready for what we hope will be a European tour after covid is contained.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I know an amazing drummer name Cain Daniel. He is always on point, very polite and a charismatic human being.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital at the moment in my own studio because Analog gear is expensive but I have access to some of the most rarest Analog gear via my brothers studio. That will be made available depending on budget and project goal.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to be absolutely honest. If it doesn't work it doesn't work. No point in forcing it. but if there is a solution we will get to that together.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love that i am my own boss and that i can always take myself to a higher level with just music!
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Why do you do what you do? Because music is my life!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Im guessing people think it is super expensive to hire a producer or multi-instrumentalist but most new artist need a skilled producer to help them get to the next level. and that education and experience is priceless when it comes to your art.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What inspires you and what do you want from your own music production?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be brave and don't hesitate. Collaborating with like minded musicians is one of the best ways to learn and progress with your music.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A guitar, an amp, a microphone, a looper/drum machine, and a laptop!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I once had a band that made it to a level in which our last show was played in front of 6000 eager ears. That was just a taste and I wanted more. So I Moved to Los Angeles and began working on music full time. Now Im part of an incredible group called The Lovepools and we just signed our second contract with Sony music in Europe! I also began looking to license as much music as possible to be able to live off royalties.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Im very worldly and can adapt to all music genres.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Pharrell Williams!! I have followed his career very closely from the Neptunes to NERD to his solo career and I truly admire his work. I believe he would bring the very best out of me.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't over produce or overthink a song. Once it feels good let it feel good and don't continue to add more just cause you feel the song needs more when it already feels good. Find a happy medium and be ready to let go.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I Usually work on Indie rock music but have dabbed in Hip hop and Latin passed songs.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I can learn a song very quickly and it only takes a few try's to get it perfect and ready for stage. I can do this on both guitar and Bass.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I have a talent for writing really good hooks! Definitely getting better as I do more and more. But Typically Lyrics come easy.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I open up a session on Studio One and create a new song profile usually 5mins in length. then depending on the initial idea i flow off the with finding the right beat and Bass line. If I write a song on my guitar i usually go on click and record a skeleton track to follow on production. once i have a good bass and beat. I re-record any guitar part and vocals I need. Then the fun begins with production and adding all the flare the song needs.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio is also my work space. I use Studio One as my DAW. Everything is recorded into my Mac and through different interfaces such as the Apollo and my StudioLive AR12. As Far as instruments I use a Fender Stratocaster Electric guitar, a Taylor Acoustic electric guitar, a Fender Jazz Bass, a Fender P-Bass, a Korg Monologe Synth, M-Audio Midi Controller, A Nord Lead 3, several different Microphones for vocals depending on the song style.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I truly am inspired by Damon Albarn of the Gorillaz/Blur. I like the way he has always collaborated with tp artist around the world. hoping to work with him myself soon.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I typically do song writing and hook placements inmost songs i collaborate with. i have been producing for quite some time and would love to work on all types of projects from here on out!
