Interview with TORU

  1. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  2. A: The most common type of work I do for my clients is to create custom music that meets their specific needs and preferences. I specialize in producing a wide range of genres, from trap and future bass to phonk, house, and more. While I am comfortable working in any genre, I find that clients often come to me for my expertise in producing electronic dance music (EDM).In addition to creating music for commercial use, I also have experience creating music for movie soundtracks. I am a professional and take pride in delivering high-quality work that exceeds my clients' expectations. Whether it's a catchy commercial jingle or an emotional film score, I always strive to create music that perfectly captures the mood and tone of the project. I believe that my versatility and ability to adapt to different styles and genres is what sets me apart from other music producers.

  3. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  4. A: My biggest project was my first release on a label. It took me almost two months to create, and I spent a lot of time perfecting every detail. After submitting the track, I waited anxiously for a month before hearing back from the label. The project was significant for me because it taught me how to finish a track and communicate effectively with labels. Seeing my hard work pay off when it was accepted for release was an incredible feeling and gave me the motivation to keep pursuing my passion for music production.

I am committed to providing a positive and professional experience for every client

  13. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  14. A: I like most about my job is that I don't have job

  15. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  16. A: What is your pricing? this is funny because money control everything

  17. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  18. A: biggest misconception about their job is that it's only about pressing buttons and making beats. In reality, producing music requires a deep understanding of music theory, songwriting, arranging, and engineering. It also involves a lot of communication and collaboration with artists, musicians, and other industry professionals to bring a vision to life.

  19. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  20. A: What is the genre and overall feel you are looking to achieve with this project? What is your timeline for completion and release of the project? Are there any specific artists or songs that you are using as inspiration for this project? Do you have any specific instrumentation or sounds that you would like to include in the production?

  21. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  22. A: My advice to customers would be to have a clear idea of what they want if they want me to work quickly. If not, it may take an average amount of time to complete the project. Being friendly with me is always appreciated, and it may even lead to better offers. Lastly, providing references is extremely helpful because it gives me a better understanding of what the customer wants me to create.

  23. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  24. A: I would choose gear that doesn't require electricity to function, such as acoustic instruments or non-electronic percussion instruments like a djembe or a cajón. I would also bring a field recorder to capture sounds from the environment and incorporate them into my music. Additionally, I would bring a notebook and pen to write down musical ideas and lyrics, and a harmonica or another small portable instrument to play and experiment with. These items would allow me to continue making music and stay inspired even without access to electricity

  25. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  26. A: I started producing music when I was a kid and during the summer when I had a lot of free time. I spent my days and nights learning how to produce music, only taking breaks to go to the gym. After three months, I released my first track on a famous label in my country, which was rare since I was the youngest producer to achieve that. Since then, I have continued to release tracks. However, things changed when I started university as I didn't have much time to produce music. Instead, I started ghost producing, making music and selling it without releasing it under my name. I have been producing for seven years now.

  27. Q: How would you describe your style?

  28. A: I wouldn't say I have a specific style, as I enjoy working on music in all genres. However, I particularly enjoy working on challenging projects that require a lot of skill and expertise in production.

  29. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  30. A: I have always dreamed of collaborating with some of the greatest music production artists of all time, like Dr. Dre, who produced music for Tupac, Coldplay, Skrillex, Hans Zimmer, and Queen. Being part of the creative process that brings some of the most iconic songs to life would be an incredibly inspiring and fulfilling experience for me. Music production is an art form that requires not only technical skills but also creativity, passion, and dedication. Working alongside these legends of the music industry would be a dream come true and a chance to learn from their expertise.

  31. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  32. A: always trust your ears. While it's important to have technical knowledge and follow guidelines and principles, ultimately the most important factor in creating a great track is how it sounds to you. Don't be afraid to experiment and try things that might not necessarily follow traditional rules, as sometimes breaking the rules can lead to new and unique sounds.

  33. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  34. A: I typically work on a variety of music genres depending on what my clients want. My recent projects have included producing phonk and trap style music. I strive to deliver high-quality results that meet the specific needs and preferences of each client.

  35. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  36. A: "My strongest skill is my passion for music. Once I start working on a project, I become completely dedicated and will not stop until it's completed. Even if I'm facing challenges, I'm determined to find a way to overcome them and finish the project. Additionally, I enjoy learning and developing new skills. I have always been competitive and ambitious, even as a child. I wanted to learn and excel at everything I tried, including sports

  37. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  38. A: I have always had a fascination with ancient instruments and old poems, and I find the unique sounds of these types of music to be truly beautiful. Additionally, I have a strong affinity for classical instruments and enjoy listening to orchestral music, which I sometimes incorporate into my own projects. One of my favorite music groups is 33a, a Georgian ensemble that has modernized traditional instruments and sounds. In my music, I aim to create a deep emotional connection with my listeners. I believe that building emotions into music requires careful composition and arrangement, as well as the use of unique sounds and instruments. Furthermore, my interest in traditional Georgian music has inspired me to explore other cultural music styles, which has helped me develop a distinctive sound and style in my own work.

  39. Q: What's your typical work process?

  40. A: My typical work process doesn't involve simply turning on my computer and starting a project. Instead, I find inspiration in a variety of ways. Sometimes I'll be struck with an idea while out and about and will make sure to jot it down on my phone. Other times, I'll be watching a video or listening to music and will hear a sound or melody that I want to incorporate into a project, so I'll save it for later. When I do sit down to start a new project, I'll often draw on these ideas and inspirations to get started. I'm open to exploring different genres and styles, and I'm always eager to experiment with new sounds and techniques to make my work stand out.

  41. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  42. A: I have typycal home music studio, with monitor, headphones, interface and mic. I use pc

  43. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  44. A: My first inspiration was a friend who played guitar and recorded with his mic at home, making beats. I was impressed by what he could create with just his computer, so in 2016, I downloaded my first DAW and started producing music. At the time, Skrillex was becoming popular and I loved the way he produced music. Later on, I also gained inspiration from Dr. Dre and Coldplay, and then from Hans Zimmer. I am drawn to music that cannot be easily categorized into one genre and always has a unique sound.
