Interview with Quim Agulló
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital: unlimited resources and modifications, far more reachable to the public.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Soft but consistent compression on mix groups/folders help control the transients for a better compression and maximization on the master.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop & Urban (R&B/Hip Hop, Afrobeats)
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Perfect pitch. To be able to recognize and work with tones without limits, understanding music at another level.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: The client comes with an idea in his head or with a rough demo file, and I try to understand the vision and capture the feeling by embodying it in the production. Once a simple structured beat is made we record vocal & instruments. The elements are finally together, it's time to balance and treatment through the mixing process, and finally make it louder by mastering it. We vibe, we create, we have fun, we enjoy, that's the most important thing.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Fred Again, Charlie Puth, Pat Metheny, Anomalie, KSHMR.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Full productions, meeting the artist in person and getting to know him/her to create confidence and a beautiful professional relationship.
