Drsyaa on SoundBetter

I'm a classically trained Karnatik singer from South India, with over 2 decades of experience. Consider my style 'Tribal-Dance' and yet versatile. I have worked on Psytrance, Trap, Meditation music, Metal etc. for over 200 clients worldwide. My vocals are featured on 'Sounds of KSHMR Vol.4', which is probably the most used sample pack as of now.

You can call me for any kind of authentic Indian Vocals. I can write in Hindi, English or Hinglish. And I can record in Sanskrit and Malayalam as well. I love writing and recording the entire vocal track for your production, but if you just need a Hook, Verse, Adlibs, Alaabs or Kannokal: hit me up surely and let's get to work!

You can contact me for any inquiries, but let me give you the usual procedure:

1. you provide me with your instrumental and a reference track.
2. I get to work and send you a Demo once my ideas have materialized :)
3. Your feedback on the Demo will be incorporated in the final delivery (we can go back and forth a couple of times)
4. Once we are on the same page, I will render all vocals on separate tracks and deliver them to you 'Dry' for maximum flexibility, ready to drag straight into your DAW.

Vocal comping is an inherent part of my workflow, so it is included in every delivery. If you need additional processing, creative mixing or production: Let me know and my Team will be ready for you :)

As far as pricing goes: I like to take things on a case by case basis, the prices given on this page are there to give you an indication.

Looking forward to working with you!

Would love to hear from you. Click the contact button above to get in touch.

Drsya is on 4 tracks on my new album, one live track from previous one and on a remix (SWISHYA actually remixed the track) of another. I see her as part of the band at this point. In spite of geographical issues, she is super creative, super communicative and ultra professional. Love you to death, Dear. Wish I could keep you all to myself but as Sting says: If you love someone, set them free. Fly high, girl!

Interview with Drsyaa

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: My mantra album 'Anicca' comes to mind. Also, my releases as an independent artist and my cover of 'Feeling Good'. Besides that I am featured on 'Sounds of KSHMR vol.4' which is probably the most used sample pack as of now, worldwide. I also have credits as featured artist and songwriter on multiple releases by Father Goose, who is a music veteran from Brooklyn who won a Grammy as part of 'Dan Zanes and Friends'. Also, working with producers like Zafrir, Avalon & Tristan and 5 Jozefs was a blast.

  3. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  4. A: That I'm not getting Paid and that this is just a hobby! Haha! And another one is perhaps the assumption that Indian music and western music are basically the same. They are not. Yes, both are music, but the approach is fundamentally different. Indian music has 22 notes in an octave and no fixed pitches, like C or F#, like western music. And that is just scratching the surface.

  5. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  6. A: I am working on my own sample pack that will be released on all major platforms shortly. Also I am on two mantra recordings for clients right now, I have a solo-record in the making, upcoming releases with some established artists, I am working on my own mantra production game and I am even working on a children's song as we speak :)

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: That I will give it my 100% to give you your money worth. I am passionate about quality and clients can and should expect that from me.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: The process of creating. For me that's the best part. Right after that: satisfied customers! Making music is what I love most and when other people see value in that is like a dream come true.

  11. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  12. A: 'Do you rap as well?' :) I do actually, and made some trap and drill records with me doing the rapping. Others are: 'Can you work with this?' and 'How much do you charge?'. The answers to those questions differ on a case by case basis :)

  13. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  14. A: A reference track is almost always essential. There is not better way to communicate a 'vibe' or 'sound' than to do it with actual audio. Words alone, just don't cut it most of the time.

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  16. A: In my case: to give me freedom of my creative expression. Of course, my expression has to be within the scope of the project and therefor clear communication is super important, but my advice would be to not put too many restrictions into an assignment if that is not strictly necessary. I have something unique to bring to the table, and that will come out best when I have the freedom to express that.

  17. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  18. A: When I was 5 I pressed my parents to let me on stage at a party and to give me a microphone. They did! I sung and it all started from there. I had South Indian Carnatic Classical training for over a decade and won numerous local singing competitions. My first recording gig came after posting covers on Instagram. After that I started offering my vocal services on online platforms. Now, I have delivered over 200 orders and worked with people like KSHMR, Zafrir, Grammy winner Father Goose (as part of “Dan Zanes and Friends''), I released several songs independently as part of SWISHYA, including a Mantra Album 'Anicca' that I am very proud of and my own solo sample pack will be available shortly on all major platforms.

  19. Q: How would you describe your style?

  20. A: Authentic Indian with an understanding of western music. Somewhere in between 'Dancey' and 'Tribal'. I am classically trained as a Carnatic Classical singer and grew up with Indian music. Not everybody knows that Indian music is very different from western music, for example: Carnatic Classical music has 22 notes in an octave. This is default for me. So, if you are looking for Indian vibes, I will deliver on that for sure :)

  21. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  22. A: Eminem! Coming from India, being exposed to his music was a revelation for me. I truly admire him. Working with him is a dream for me. Also, a feature on a Tiesto or Guetta Track.... a KSHMR track or a track with Nas, Stormzy or Devine.... I can go on for a while :)

  23. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  24. A: Close your eyes and use your ears as much as possible. And secondly, take a break after you made your first draft, listen to something completely different and then go back with fresh ears. This way you can emulate how your audience will percieve your work on their first listen.

  25. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  26. A: Mostly electronic music, psytrance, progressive and techno. As well as Mantra music for meditation. Other than that, my vocals are used for genres like trap and drill, folk music, Indian classical music and even metal.

  27. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  28. A: Coming up with melodies. It just comes easy to me. It's a blessing.

  29. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  30. A: A unique sense of music, that comes from my background in South Indian Carnatic Classical- and Bollywood music, combined with my interest in western musical genres, such as Jazz, Psytrance, Hip-Hop and Progressive House. I like to bring exotic and mystical vibes to productions, somewhere between 'Dancey' and 'Tribal'. :) What I see is that, an authentic Indian vocal track on a piece of music, can really take it to another place and space. This is what I do and what I am good at :)

  31. Q: What's your typical work process?

  32. A: First: Vocal warmups :) Then, typically, after I receive an instrumental from a client, I do my creative thing: make melodies, write lyrics, record them and send a demo to the client. I incorporate the feedback I receive include into the final version, sometimes we go back and forth a couple of times, and then I deliver my vocals to the client on separate tracks for maximum flexibility. That being said, there are many ways an order can materealize, this is just the most common way.

  33. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  34. A: Out of India: TM Krishna, KK and Devine Out of the west: Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson, James Brown and more contemporary: KSHMR, Zafrir, Highlight tribe.

  35. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  36. A: I'd say, most commong is writing and recording vocals for producers of electronic music, and give their tracks that authentic Indian vibe. Secondly, I record and produce traditional Indian Mantras. In total I have delivered to over 200 clients worldwide. I am an independent artist as well and you can find me as one half of SWISHYA on all platforms.
