Nice to meet you! I've been working as a trombonist in the Los Angeles are for 17 years. Live groups I have performed with include styles in Jazz/Big Band, Classical, Salsa/Latin, Persian, Top 40's, Hip Hop, R&B, Rap, Musicals, and more. If needed, I am able to transcribe and/or arrange multiple horn parts. Even before the pandemic I was working on my recording and video editing skills, but since the lockdown, my equipment and abilities have grown and I can confidently provide you with at-home recordings of myself. The quarantine has also allowed me to work on my arrangement and transcribing skills as I produce multi-track covers from home.

Interview with Lindsay Trombone

  1. Q: How would you describe your style?

  2. A: Pretty pop

  3. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  4. A: I'd love to work with Michael Buble. I like how he incorporates lots of styles into his music and I think his voice sounds like butter.

  5. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  6. A: When recording the trombone, it's important to have some distance from the mic to the bell to allow the soundwaves to develop.

  7. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  8. A: I don't really have one style I focus on because I wouldn't make much money if I limited myself. I would say the majority of the music I get hired for is more commercial.

  9. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  10. A: I would say my strongest selling point is versatility. I can play just about anything anyone may need me for.

  11. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  12. A: I'd like to think you can hear my personality in my playing: a little cheeky, a little pretty

  13. Q: What's your typical work process?

  14. A: If the music is already prepared for me, I usually take a look to see if it's complicated enough for me to practice it, otherwise for most projects I can jump right in to recording.

  15. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  16. A: I record at home, using (mostly) a 58 into Focusrite into Reaper.

  17. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  18. A: I love the Beatles, the Supremes, Chicago, Lizzo

  19. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  20. A: Honestly, before the pandemic, I mostly performed live and on stage. But home recording has become a necessity recently and I'm happy for the work.
