Endorse _______________-_________Ivan and I have known and worked with each other for over 10 years. He's extremely detail oriented, knowledgeable, and a technician when it comes to producing and engineering. He's a student of his craft to this day even after all his success in the music industry, and is always reaching back to help up and coming producers and artists as well.
Hands down my fave! Why...
- Extremely Professional.
- Superior Musicality.
- Understands multiple genres of music.
- Sound quality is top notch.
- Great producer, engineer, and sound designer.
Definitely do yourself a favor a work with him. You'll be glad you did.Ivan is staple in the Philadelphia music community, having helped lay the foundation for a generation of young artists and producers to build upon. Regardless of what genre of music you are looking for, Ivan will provide you with a top notch product and an amazing client experience!
Ivan is an outstanding producer and engineer. His ability to get the most out of me as a musician and the most out of the artist is one of his hallmarks. He is patient, encouraging, and challenging, which is a dynamic combination to create great and special music. I can't wait till the next time we work together!
Ivan is a great engineer to work with. He brings out the creativity in the artist. Ivan's sound, for any genre, is one hard to mimick.
Interview with _______________-_________
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: How does your music translate in a live setting. It helps in shaping the direction of whatever it is we're working on.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Have a defined idea of what you you're looking for to avoid redundancy or heading in the wrong direction.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Ludwig Oyster Kit, UAD Apollo Twin, laptop, Ableton Push 2 and a matched stereo pair of ribbon mics.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I began my career as Hip Hop emcee and eventually went from behind the glass to behind the console. I've been doing this professionally for 20 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is rhythm dependent. Even the melodies I come up with I approach from a rhythmic aspect.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always listen to the lyrics because the songwriting stage sets the tone for post production. The choices you make at this stage would eliminate unnecessary fixes later at the mix stage.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Mostly Urban music (R&B/Soul, Hip Hop). I've worked on Pop records and Gospel records as well.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My personality. I'm easy to get along with. I'm working at my dream job and I'm not curing cancer so I try not to make myself more important than the process. i like to have fun doing my work and try to create that environment for clients.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring respect for the song to a song. I understand that the artist's brand would not matter to the listener if there is no song that resonates with them. I also value the potential for a song to become a timeless classic so I won't detract from that by adding any producer tags or novelties.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My process varies depending on the client. Somedays I work on tracks to give to top line writers, other days will find me working with writers on music from scratch. I work with musicians other than myself often to add to or enhance productions I may be working on. I try to maintain optionality in my approach.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have 3 computer systems in my studio: one consists of MacPro tower running Pro Tools HD 11 (192 interface) and UAD Octo card fully loaded with latest plug ins, Soundtoys, McDsp, Waves etc; second is a MacPro trashcan running Logic Pro X and Ableton with an extensive contact library 2 UAD Apollo's and same plug-ins as the one above plus numerous VST's; third set up is my MacBook Pro that is a mirror of my MacPro trashcan.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Anyone that is true to their craft and can accept that there is no wrong way to approach their art.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I compose music, help write and engineer the song I'm working on with the client.
