Youssef Kamy on SoundBetter

Here to transform your songs from a homemade recording to a studio quality hit like those of your favorite artists. I'll turn your music into something like XXXTENTACION, Juice WRLD, Trippie Redd, DaBaby, Travis Scott, Lil Uzi, The Weekend, Drake, Gunna, Lil Baby or even Nav in under 7 hours

I've been in this business for a while now, and I've taken the decision to take my expertise and help give other upcoming artists an opportunity to shine

Been releasing my own music for a over a year and you can find me everywhere under the name KAMY.

Hit me up and let's jump into a video call, talk about exactly what work we're tryna produce and I can even show you how I mix your songs.

An album, an EP or even just a single, whatever you need man - I got you.

With the practice and the experience, one discovers a hell lot of shit about mixing they don't initially let you know about in those Youtube videos. But with me, I'm here to help you grow and I all for sharing what I've learned

Overcoming erratic EQ, understanding compression (attack and release knobs and what they exactly do) Saturation, Delays, Reverbs, everything there is to the art of mixing.

With the combination of virtual microphone plugins and experience with different microphones, I can turn the recordings produced by your USB microphone into the likes of a Neuman U87, Neuman TLM 103 or Sony cg-800

Disclaimer:
Keep in mind that although I have the tools and the knowledge, I'm no miracle worker. I'll give it all I got and but don't expect too much of your low-quality audio! Remember a professional song is always 80% recording and 20% mixing!

Click the 'Contact' above to get in touch. Looking forward to hearing from you.

after receiving Kamy's email indicating that he's now offering his services through Sound Better, I thought it would be best to come share my experience working with him to help him out like he helped me

when I was at the start of my music career I came in contact with him and he helped me learn so much about mixing I simply wasn't able to find out about through research

and then when I first officially worked with him he helped me mix and master my first song and taught me how to transform my raw vocals

great guy, bright future... definitely recommend!

Worked with him before he came to SoundBetter and when I heard he's on the platform I had to come and share my experience. Great guy, understanding and extremely talented. He got it done in no time. I told him I wanted it to sound like a Juice Wrld track and that's exactly the vibe I got when I received the finished product. He took my trashy vocals and beat and elevated them into a great song I couldn't have gotten without him.Thank you so much Kamy! And I wish you all the best!!!!

Interview with Youssef Kamy

  1. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  2. A: Its remarkable how insanely XXXTENTACION and Juice WRLD have impacted me in my work. That exposure they provided me with, specifically X, really taught me the art of versatility.

  3. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  4. A: Mixing, it's my chosen art. Its where I can express myself in a manner similar to the satisfaction you get as a toddler curating your masterpiece. You just need to add the color to the vocals, which in this case are the plugins.

  5. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  6. A: I wish i had had the chance to work with X, we both share same character traits, style, and even our voices are somehow similar and Juice because of his ability to pour his heart in verses. I just wish that i could have had the honor to work with some of their creations. May both of their souls rest in peace.

  7. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  8. A: overcome ERRATIC EQ + always use a reference track when you can

  9. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  10. A: I can get achieve a very close sound to a mix of any song, other than that i'd have to say ensuring the communication between us brings the results we're looking for

  11. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  12. A: shine, taste, tightness, jus tryna create that chemistry between every element of the song while maintaining its individual strength

  13. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  14. A: Switch Up, has over 17,000 streams. Recorded, mixed, and mastered it.

  15. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  16. A: Perfecting my craft.

  17. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  18. A: Dose Beats.

  19. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  20. A: I don't have a preference but it depends on the song type.

  21. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  22. A: To satisfy them in the most possible way possible.

  23. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  24. A: Exploring different voices and understanding how plugins work, not only on my voice but everyone's.

  25. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  26. A: How do you know all of this information despite your age ? My answer to this question is "i have no idea". It just happened like that because i genuinely love the work inside out, therefore i stacked up on all of this info without intentionally doing it, you feel me.

  27. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  28. A: Using Waves Vocal Rider. Trust me it kicks in.

  29. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  30. A: Who are you trying to sound like ? Which artist inspires you the most ? How do you want your delays to sound like ? Do you want too much reverb ? Do you want your track wide ?

  31. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  32. A: Don't spend too much money on mixing services unless it's 1. worth it or 2. you can guarantee remaking the money back from your song.

  33. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  34. A: iMac, Microphone, Headset, Interface, Mic Stand.

  35. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  36. A: Finish college and get my degree for computer science and business, after that i'd become a mixing engineer and manage my father's multinational company. 3 years.

  37. Q: How would you describe your style?

  38. A: Versatile.

  39. Q: What's your typical work process?

  40. A: I start of by gain staging, setting the vocals to hit that -18db sweet spot by using gain automation, then i use a surgical eq to subtract any unwanted frequencies from the mix. Next, i introduce the first compressor to the mix to control the vocal a bit. Then the De Esser comes in handy to control any sibilance in the vocal, add the second eq for toning, second compressor for light toning, saturator or maybe a Slate Revival, then i limit the vocal to catch the peaks that slipped away from the compressors. Moreover, here comes the aux sends for reverb, delay, doublers, etc. Lastly, Volume automation kicks in to level out the mix.

  41. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
