Lets clean up muck off your tracks! Mixing/production has been my passion for 20 years. I have deep roots in my local communities all over the Midwest and West Coast. From noise shows in a basement to sharing a stage with Lizzo as a band member. I draw from this breadth of experience to deliver the best possible experience for the listener.
I absolutely love getting people closer to their sonic goals.
I work in Logic Pro X, with state of the art plugins.
Production is my forte', but I can also just get the muck out of your mixes, play on a track,
give mix suggestions,
be a teacher.
I've spent the greater part of my life collaborating with musicians and engineers. I love the energy of local scenes, and community. I'd rather hang with fans than hang in the green room. My roots are in the independent music world though I've mixed and engineered the full gambit of music. From stoner metal to jazz. Accordion-pop to electro-pop. I have a very heavy life-long love for psychedelia. The first time I heard Jimi Hendrix's guitar I knew I wanted to be in the music world.
I'm in awe at the work of modern production. I have a heavy love for those who break the rules while writing new possibilities. People like Tame Impala, Unknown Mortal Orchestra & Blood Orange are some inspirations I like to align my ears with while mixing.
Pricing/revisions are negotiable within reason. I just want to make sure you leave your project %1000 happy with your jams. Lets work together ☀️

Wow! 10/10 experience with Andrew Jansen! These songs sound EXACTLY how I wanted them to, and he was so so kind and helpful throughout the entire process. He even gave me advice on multiple music related things, and was always quick to respond. Completely professional and always listens to what you want changed/added. This is my go to guy from now on, and I will recommend him to everyone I can.

Andrew was awesome to work with and gave a ton of his own input while also listening to my own suggestions, made it an enjoyable team effort and the new track sounds amazing

Such a cool guy to work with, really knowledgeable about indie type music. Highly recommended, it’s really more akin to working with a partner/member of your own band than with “just” working with a mixing engineer.

Andrew is the man.
He did a really good job turning my demo into a really good song. It was like jamming with a friend, which helped me a lot to improve the way I compose and to have another vision of what I want as an artist.
Make no mistakes, choose this guy!

Once again, Andrew has pulled me and my song out of the weeds! This is my second time working with him on a tricky dense song I was struggling to make coherent. His intuition and foresight for the stylistic goals I was after were excellent! He took my song and added so much cleanliness and life to it! He’s fun to work with and really takes the time to show me things that can help in the future. A GREAT mentor!

Andrew is a rare combo of vast musicality and great intuition! And a a great musician himself! He had not only an amazing sensitive ear and understanding of my music, but also the foresite of what it can be. This helped me understand more about my own music. My neurotic thoughts can come across like a bag of cats, so his perceptiveness & patience was so relieving and appreciated! A yin to my yang! Such a great sense of style and taste to enhancing your music, I immediately worked with him again!

I am super happy I hired Andrew. He is a real pro. Not only is he well skilled in mixing and mastering, he takes time to listen to the artist's vision, provide feedback and adjust his workflow in a way that suits the project. He has all vision, creativity and technical skills you would want in a mixer.

Absolutely brillant to work with! Andrew kept constant communication as he crafted my first track. He listened to me completely then understood and shared my vision for my music. He is an incredible prouder that meets all demands and also helped me outside of my song by teaching me about the music industry as a whole.

Working with Andrew has been an absolutely wonderful and rewarding experience. He has a great talent for not only executing a vision, but also telling a story with his sound. He helped me turn my original demo into a brand new track filled with emotion and color. Not only was the finished product great, but I also left with more tools and knowledge for future projects! If you are looking for someone to bring your demo to its greatest potential, I would 100% recommend Andrew!
Andrew is a musical being. He's instinctually creative, and always finds a way to give a song more character. In addition to having well-rounded production expertise, he's an excellent songwriter and amazing guitarist. I've played, written, and recorded alongside him, and I've always been struck by how genuine and passionate he is.
Interview with Andrew Jansen
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am currently working on a record that has some songs that sound like Leonard Cohen and some that sound like Suicide <3
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both! Whichever makes it sound the best for the moment! They all have their strengths and weaknesses
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What kind of microphones do you have? What kind of interface and recording program will you be using. Do you have recording experience? If you aren't the best at recording, will you take some advice on how to get your sound better (no pun intended 🙆)
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Classical guitar, Sennheiser 421, Logic Pro X... I think I'm set <3 Pass the coconuts and lets make some tropical jams.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I feel firmly grounded in vintage feel. I could do a totally modern pop sound, but at this point even that has so many flavors and cues from lost eras.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Put some chorus on the hit-hat. Run the vocals through a leslie. Autotune the snare. ~ There are no rules. Yet rules can also help you down the path. It is it's own paradox. Find some rules of your own to create your own narrative in sound ~
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Production and mixing
