Ayel on SoundBetter

Professional songwriter crafting compelling toplines, lyrics, and full demos for artists, producers, and sync. I deliver emotionally resonant songs across pop, R&B, indie, EDM, and more—tailored to your vision, with fast turnaround and broadcast-quality results. Let’s create something unforgettable.

Versatile, industry-proven, and deeply attuned to the emotional core of modern hip-hop and R&B, I’m a songwriter with writing credits for top-charting artists including Trippie Redd, Bryson Tiller, and Roddy Ricch. My work bridges raw emotion with melodic structure, helping artists shape songs that connect deeply with their audience and stand out in today’s saturated landscape.

Whether it’s introspective lyricism, vibey hooks, or full topline development, I bring a collaborative spirit and a sharp ear for what cuts through. My credits span major-label releases and independent projects alike, and I’m experienced in both studio and remote sessions. I thrive in fast-paced environments and bring a focus on authenticity, storytelling, and vocal dynamics.

Open to writing opportunities across genres, particularly hip-hop, R&B, melodic trap, and pop crossover.

Interview with Ayel

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I worked on Trippie Redd’s Love Letter 5 as a contributing songwriter and I’m super proud to have helped on the songs Action, Closed Doors (featuring Roddy Ricch), and Flowers (featuring Bryson Tiller).

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I’m currently working on some sync pieces that I plan to pitch to shows like The Chi, Netflix original films, and various sports documentaries.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I highly recommend a past client of mine named Mark—he’s an amazing producer with innovative ideas and great communication. Working with him is always a fun and smooth process

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I prefer working digitally because my personal studio setup is great for faster turnaround times, plus it lets me stay creative on the go with mobile flexibility.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: My promise to songwriting clients is to fully meet their vision, communicate openly and effectively, and always treat every project with respect. Integrity is really important to me in everything I do.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: The thing I like most about my job—besides making music—is bringing a client’s vision to life and collaborating to create something special. I also love playing with the meaning of words and the power of melody to really move people.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: The most common questions I get from songwriting clients are usually if I can write in a specific genre and if I can provide a lyric sheet. The answer is always yes—I’m versatile with styles and I make sure to deliver clear lyric sheets so you have everything you need to move forward easily.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: A lot of people think songwriting is just about coming up with catchy lyrics or melodies on the spot, but it’s way more than that. For me, it’s about really getting what the artist or project needs, telling a meaningful story, and creating something that actually connects with people on a deeper level.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: When working with new clients, I like to ask a few key questions: What vibe or mood are you aiming for? Do you have any themes or ideas for the lyrics? Are there specific artists or songs you’d like the style to be similar to? Do you already have an instrumental or track to work with? What’s your timeline or expected turnaround time? And what is the record intended for (e.g., release, sync, demo)? Any other preferences I should know about? These help me make sure the songwriting matches your vision perfectly.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: My advice to clients looking to work with me is to be as specific as possible about your vision and to provide the production or instrumental track. This helps me understand exactly what you’re aiming for and allows me to craft a topline that fits perfectly with your song.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: If I had to pick just five pieces of gear to bring to a desert island, I’d definitely take my Neumann U 87 mic because of its amazing vocal sound, and my Apollo Twin interface to keep the audio quality top-notch. I’d also bring my laptop with a DAW so I can record and produce music anywhere, along with my Audio-Technica MH50x headphones to hear everything clearly. Lastly, a portable MIDI controller would be key for making melodies and beats on the go.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I’ve been an artist and songwriter for over 10 years, steadily honing my craft. Over the past 4 years, I’ve focused more on sync music and writing for other artists. My work includes sync placements on Love Island USA and songwriting credits on Trippie Redd’s Love Letter 5 album, featuring collaborations with artists like Bryson Tiller and Roddy Ricch.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My songwriting style combines honest, emotional storytelling with catchy and memorable melodies. I focus on writing thoughtful, relatable lyrics paired with smooth, engaging melodies that bring the song’s message to life.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: One day, I’d love to work with James Fauntleroy—his talent for melody, emotion, and songwriting is a major inspiration in my own creative process.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Trust your words—you're always saying something someone else needs to hear. And trust the feeling—it’s not an accident; it's part of the message.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I primarily work on R&B and Rap records, bringing smooth melodies and rhythmic lyricism to the forefront—but I also work on Pop songs, delivering catchy, polished toplines that fit a wide range of production styles.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill as a topline songwriter is understanding, capturing, and enhancing the client’s vision—crafting melodies and lyrics that not only align with your direction but elevate the overall feel and impact of the track.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring a strong sense of melodic intuition, lyrical clarity, and emotional connection to every track I work on. My toplines are crafted to feel authentic, memorable, and tailored to the mood and style of your production—whether it’s vibey and moody or energetic and hook-driven. I focus on delivering melodies that cut through and lyrics that resonate, all while maintaining a vocal delivery that feels natural, expressive, and radio-ready.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: To get started, I prefer that clients provide the instrumental track along with any creative direction—this can include references, mood, themes, or lyrical ideas. This helps me fully understand your vision and create a proposal that aligns with your project. Once everything is confirmed, my typical turnaround time is 4 days for a complete topline (melody and/or lyrics). I'm always open to feedback and include a round of revisions to make sure you're 100% satisfied.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I record with a Neumann U 87 condenser mic and an Apollo Twin X Duo interface, ensuring clean, industry-standard vocal quality for every project.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I'm inspired by artists and songwriters like James Fauntleroy, Ty Dolla $ign, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and others who blend melody, emotion, and vibe-driven songwriting. My goal is to bring that same energy and creativity to every project I work on.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I specialize in delivering high-quality vocal and melodic performances, as well as crafting compelling topline melodies and lyrics for demos and commercial tracks. Whether you're looking for lead vocals, background harmonies, or a full topline (melody + lyrics), I provide professional recordings tailored to your song’s style and emotional tone. My work spans genres like pop, EDM, R&B, and more, and I'm dedicated to capturing the right vibe to bring your track to life.
