Interview with Ian Vargo

  1. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  2. A: Here is like thousands: https://theproaudiofiles.com/author/ianvargo/

  3. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  4. A: It varies, indie rock, pop, lofi, hip hop, vaporwave. Love it all!

  5. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  6. A: Imparting analog flavor while embracing the versatility and speed of digital tools. I have a decent 3 pointer, too.

  7. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  8. A: An appreciation of actually being IN A BAND. I love feeling as if I am part of a band when working. I get a song or production to where it needs to be, and then I move on.

  9. Q: What's your typical work process?

  10. A: There is no typical process. I always try to make the best possible version of the song I am working on. Some songs take very little work, some take a ton. Some songs need my sonic imprint, others need me to be transparent.

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: Pretty much every plugin, a variety of outboard gear including pieces by overstayer, chandler limited, kush audio, universal audio, AKG, and more.

  13. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  14. A: I am a fan of all types of music and production styles, both new and old. The medium is ever-evolving, and I love that about music production.

  15. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  16. A: Mixing and Mastering.
