Hi there! I´m a composer, musician and arranger based in Buenos Aires.

I have a wide experience playing, composing, recording and mixing different styles of music.
I play guitar, ukelele, drums and percussion, harmonica, charango, piano, keyboards, trumpet, and I work with lots of midi libraries. I love composing soundtracks for TV and cinema, specially instrumental music. I composed and arranged music for FOX international, Avealma Sound delivery, Wondery.com, Wideo.com, Ford, Random House Mondadori, and I composed the original soundtrack of the films "Tierra incognito" and "El Aprendiz", by the film director Tomas De Leone. I made some branding jobs too.
Basically, I love challenges.

Interview with Nicolas Reffray

Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: A mix of both. Analog has always that warm halo that every musician loves, and digital is a great partner in some projects, there are incredible midi libraries, very realistic, so I think closing the door to it would be a mistake
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I play instruments since I was 12, now I´m 34 years old and I´ve been working on musical projects since I was 25. To me, music´s a way of life.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It depends on the project and the client, but, in general, I start composing a simple base with the piano or the guitar, and then I continue developing the whole track based on the tastes and requirements of the client. I try to make the song sound simple and complex at the same time.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I really feel inspired with the work of the great Phillip Glass, and the french composer Yann Tiersen, I think they are admirable and talented composers, each one in their own style, capable of creating melodies that go beyond their own time.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Each work is different and I love that, because it allows me to try different stuff all the time, and each project -and each client behind that project- is unique.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I´m not attached to one type of music. I composed some rock, alternative, pop, country, classical, acoustic, blues, dance tracks, and I made also some music for kids. Each style has its own way, and I love trying with everything.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is my ability to work with acoustic instruments and compose orchestral arrangements.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I composed and arranged some tracks for a FOX´s branding in Asia. It was a huge experience, plenty of changes and deadlines, and I´m very proud of the process and the final result. The whole project was produced by Martin Blanco for Avealma.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Professionalism, always professionalism, and excellent work.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always go further!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring all my experience and professionalism, I put my soul in every project.
