Lib on SoundBetter

As an artist myself, I strive for the best sound I can achieve. I'm here for hire to help you do the same thing!

I'm a multi-talented artist mainly based in Hip-Hop/Rap and RnB/Soul. I freelance my production, mixing, and mastering using Pro Tools and a variety of different professional plug-ins. All you have to do is give me a clear description of your song, and send me stems of your song (in WAV form) and a reference/demo of your song to show me exactly what you strive for.

Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.

Libaax, has mad heart in his craft. Nobody out here like him. Libaax and me are currently working on a song fully produced, mix and mastered by himself. Dude has crazy talent in beat and vocal production.

As a fellow engineer I’ve had the pleasure to work with Libaax on a couple song, as well watch him grow as an artist and producer; I must say it’s been real. His intentions and ears are in the right place. When working with him it’s always easy to do so because he knows how to execute the wants of an artist and needs of the song/project. Won’t disappoint!

Interview with Lib

  1. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  2. A: An L-shaped desk tucked into a soundproofed corner outlined with colored LEDs. On the shorter end of the desk is a brand new MacBook Pro connected to a Scarlett 8i6 and HP monitor, which is in the middle of two Yamaha HS5 monitors. In the space between the two ends of the desk is a pair of ATH-M50x mixing headphones and a boom arm holding an AKG P220, then on the longer end is an AKAI MPK249 under a wall of vinyls.

  3. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  4. A: My "For Every Door That Closed" EP. I hit a low in my life at that point and releasing that EP with two music videos to follow it felt like my comeback. I was working on a full length before it but that just wasn't fleshing out to what I wanted it to be. I mixed, mastered and executively produced that EP and gained a new level of respect for it.

  5. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  6. A: Just finished my first full length, while I plan for and prepare its rollout I'm still creating and collaborating with others on new songs and concepts.

  7. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  8. A: I actually don't yet, I'm brand new to this.

  9. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  10. A: I've never used analog so I can't compare the two, but I would absolutely love to try it out in the near future. From what I've heard it brings a certain warmth to the music that digital can't fully accomplish.

  11. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  12. A: You're going to get exactly what you ask for, from someone who genuinely cares about the music we create together.

  13. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  14. A: Music is a living energy that's fully under its creator's control, it's almost a religious concept. The same song can have various effects on certain people based on how it impacts their unique psyche, and I find that fascinating. Music literally saves lives and is used as a beacon for certain periods of time. You know what decade you're in when you hear 2Pac, The Rolling Stones, or Michael Jackson. It's all pure power and energy in the hands of a human being, and to be one of those human beings is something I'll never trade for anything.

  15. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  16. A: They ask what DAW I use, which is Ableton Live.

  17. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  18. A: People think I'm just a rapper which I honestly was never comfortable with, I feel like I do so much more than just that and should be credited for it.

  19. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  20. A: Do you plan to work with the same people as you keep building your career or do you want to continue branching out?

  21. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  22. A: Always prioritize your vision over one other people may try to push on you, nobody knows you like you do.

  23. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  24. A: My mic, laptop, interface, keyboard, and headphones.

  25. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  26. A: Music runs in my family so it's always been my passion. As an artist I started writing at 14, beat making at 16, and mixing at 18. I'm 21 now.

  27. Q: How would you describe your style?

  28. A: The perfect blend of old and new.

  29. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  30. A: Kendrick Lamar because of his influence on the culture and on me as a person and an artist. His team is very inspiring to me in terms of ethic and identity, they break rules and make new ones out of that.

  31. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  32. A: Use your ears, never prioritize what you see over what you hear.

  33. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  34. A: Hip-Hop and RnB.

  35. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  36. A: Strong work ethic and a good ear.

  37. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  38. A: Power and color. I use modern psychedelic sounds and also organic natural sounds, the best of both worlds.

  39. Q: What's your typical work process?

  40. A: If I'm working on my own song I start with either the creation of the instrumental, lyric writing or freestyling, then the recording, editing and slight mixing as I continue to build the song. Then, I finalize the production right before I mix then master the song. If it's a beat I'm making for someone else I typically start with a sample or a melody from scratch. If it's a mix I focus on the dry and mono elements of the mix to get the main levels and textures to sound right before I put my sends and effects into action, it's all about balance to me.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, OVO 40, J Dilla, and Mixed By Ali, to name a few.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Mixing, mastering, and beat making.
