I’m James Cunningham, a Mixing Engineer and Producer with over 19 billion streams across the records I’ve worked on. According to MUSO, I’m in the top 5% of Mixing Engineers, top 2% of Mastering Engineers, and top 10% of Producers worldwide.

I was part of the production team that helped BTS beat The Beatles’ Billboard record for the most number-one albums in a year. Since 2012 I’ve worked with 300+ artists, trained by leading UK hitmakers including TMS, James F Reynolds, and Mark Ralph.

My mixes focus on clarity, punch, warmth, and emotion, with the goal of elevating your sound to a competitive, release-ready standard. I offer attended & remote mix sessions (live DAW streaming) or a simple notes-and-revisions workflow. I work on a fixed project rate with unlimited revisions until your track feels right.

I’ve mixed everything from pop, dance, indie and R&B to full live bands, strings and choirs recorded at Abbey Road. Recent work includes tracks playlisted on BBC Radio 2.

Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both - Depending on the genre and needs of the song. Sometimes a mix, sometimes only digital.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To stay with the project no matter how complicated or simple its all about extracting every last % out the song so will work as hard as needed to get to that point.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I get to do what I love and what I am passioante about daily.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Mix notes / Mix Guide notes or references that feel similar to their own track to help me understand the direction of the song.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Make sure all your parts are ready for Mix. Don't keep changing things last minute as mixing is a blend of the parts working all together. Any changes can change the entire feel of the mix, meaning you have to back track.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Digital & Analog Hybrid with SSL and Tl Audio Tube Analog Mixing Console. Using a range of speakers and headphones to get my mixes translate between all sound systems
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mixing. I take client productions and elevate them to a clear, punchy, emotional, release-ready standard that translates on all systems.
