Hi there! I'm a dynamic and award-winning vocalist with a wide range, a high belt, and bright, powerful sound // strong harmonizer and ad-libber // clever songwriter and topliner
Need a powerhouse voice for your project? How about a versatile songwriter with a unique perspective, passion, and solid work ethic? If so, we may be a great fit.
My performing and recording career spans nearly two decades and covers multiple genres. I specialize in pop, pop rock, and Broadway-style high belting. My immersion in various genres throughout my career has enabled me to adapt to pretty much any style, and I am committed to curating the exact sound you're looking for in your project.
In addition to vocals, I write lyrics and melodies, play the piano and the acoustic guitar, and produce music in my acoustically-treated recording studio.
Critics have called my songwriting clever, edgy, fresh and emotive. I’ve received training and education in music theory and songwriting through coursework with the University of Edinburgh, Charlie Puth, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, Blanks, the Female Musician Academy, and more.

Endorse Krystal ArveloThe only thing that might come close to rivaling Krystal's stunning voice, is her work ethic and drive to meet and exceed expectations. I've had the pleasure of working with her on and off the stage, as well as in recordings. She is professional, courteous, and puts her heart and soul into her work. I would not hesitate to recommend her, and definitely will do so in the future.
Krystal is by far one of the best vocalists I have had the pleasure to work with in my over 30 year career. We have shared the stage on multiple occasions and I even asked her to perform at my wedding. I've directed her on stage and she is a consummate professional. She adapts and overcomes any adversity. She is incredibly flexible and always prepared. We collaborated on a track and she was completely on top of her craft. She is a gifted content creator and a level-headed producer. I would highly recommend Krystal for any of your production needs. I know that I will in the future.
I have had the pleasure of working with Krystal Arvelo in multiple productions. Not only is she among the most gifted vocalists I've known, she is also one of the most prepared, reliable and professional colleagues I've been blessed to work with. Time and again, I've seen her deliver flawless performances under extraordinary circumstances. I was incredibly honored to ask her to create one of the leading roles in my first full scale musical production. I heartily endorse her for any project you are considering. You will not be disappointed.
Krystal is one of the most talented and dedicated singers I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Her voice is one of the best I've heard, and it is adaptable across multiple genres. Her professionalism and work ethic are a cut above the rest. I collaborated with her on a track earlier this year and she was a pleasure to work with and sing with, we had great communication throughout, and I look forward to working with her again.
Interview with Krystal Arvelo
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Back in April 2020, I jumped into YouTube music feet first with a 30-day song challenge. Every day I'd record a new song cover with a corresponding music video. It was an intense pace but I learned so much. I'm proud because I had every role except camera person. I was the singer, the recording engineer, the arranger and accompanist, the costumer, the make-up artist, the producer, the video editor, the graphic designer, and the communications specialist. I gained so much trial-by-fire experience.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm working on building up my music production and recording studio, Happy Mooncat Studios, and producing more high-quality, industry-standard original music all the time.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started singing professionally when I was a child and continued until I went to college. I performed all over the country, recorded music as a demo singer, and wrote several songs. While I still performed, I took a hiatus from my music career during that time and switched tracks for a while as a digital media and communications professional. I focused on musical theatre and charity performances. For the past few years, I have been putting out new content, improving my skills in audio engineering and production, and refining my songwriting chops.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: BoomFox Productions! Top notch songwriting and production skills.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I'm a digital girl! I love the usability and immediacy.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to put my entire heart into the project and treat it with the utmost care and professionalism.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love that every day is different. Every project is unique. It keeps things interesting!
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: A common question is how well I take feedback. I am very open and receptive to direction, notes, and feedback from my clients. I am committed to bringing a project to life as they envision it and want to make sure it's perfect for them.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I think a big misconception from the general public is that vocals are recorded with one sing through and done. Most of the time, I'll record background parts, ad-libs, stacks for the chorus and hook, etc.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is your working style? What is the vibe or overall feel you're looking for on the project? What is your deadline/desired turnaround time?
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Well, if I have to be smart and economical about it... My Macbook Pro, a solar powered generator that could continuously power my equipment, a high-end USB microphone, headphones, and monitors.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My vocal style is bright, powerful, and full of emotion. My working style is organized, process-based and results-driven.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: If we are talking big-time artists, I'd love to work with Taylor Swift. She has reinvented her brand and her sound over and over, she is a smart businesswoman, and she is a phenomenal songwriter.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Learning to gain stage can be tricky but is a MUST for belters and powerhouse singers.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on pop, pop rock and contemporary musical theatre.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is my adaptability. I'm flexible and versatile. I'm not afraid to embrace someone's vision even if it's totally different and unique.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring my enthusiasm, heart, emotion, and decades of experience to every song I record and create.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First is the idea and brainstorm phase. I'm super collaborative so I love to hear my client's ideas and springboard from there. I like to nail down the big picture first and then hone in on the details. I check in at various points during the process to ensure we are still on the same page in terms of direction and sound.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I'm in love with my home studio. I have a standard setup that I am improving all the time. Currently that includes acoustically treated walls, monitors, high-end headphones, microphone, pop filter, MacBook Pro, Logic Pro X, and a number of quality go-to plug-ins.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: "Prolific" is my aspirational word, so Lin-Manuel Miranda is a huge inspiration to me in terms of songwriting and project volume. My main vocal influences would be Idina Menzel, Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, Martina McBride and Whitney Houston.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work I do for my clients is recording lead vocals for their tracks. I have experience as a demo singer and also as the main vocalist for covers, original songs and cast recordings.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I'd say you should be sure to get a feel for 3 things: the voice/talent of the provider, their general personality, and their work ethic/professionalism. All 3 are critical to finding a good fit.
