Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: HGA 2 by KB. It changed bow I approached production honestly. Something can be so complex and yet so straight forward
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Album called “TRILLMATIKK” which is out now on all platforms and a clothing brand called “Starrberry” which encourages everyone to get outside and enjoy the world
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: WEARETHEGOOD, Quinten Coblentz and Wes Writer
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The flexibility! The freedom
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Is that it’s not sustainable. I have been doing music full time for over 3 years. Taking care of my wife and child. My wife doesn’t work and we have been fine living off of music. There are so many needs in the music space. Not just to be the face but playing the background as well.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is your goal for this track? Who do you love to listen to? What is the emotion you are going for?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be willing to blend. We can create a moment or we can create a soundtrack for someone’s life. I love the simple things that can be polished into something amazing
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started on Garageband 2018 in a college dorm. Took a break then got serious in 2020 due to covid. I then had some big viral moments that lead to a record deal with Sony Music which I opted out if after wanting to come back to the indie scene. From 2020 to present.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don’t over think it. You tend to add too much when you are thinking too much. If it feels good then let it be. Simplicity is key.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hip and Rap or R&B. I am a pop fan as well as house but mainly those two genres.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Strongest skill is the range and styles of vocals.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I typically find melodies and themes that stick. I see how I can scheme throughout records and aim to give that emotion in every song. I love to find photos or videos to play in the background. Make sure to hav some water and a clear head going into sessions. I often produce my own stuff so thats the first step is building a beat that gives me the space to work.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a pair of Rokit KRK 5s with a dual monitor. M1 Mac Mini plus a M-Audio Interface. Had a Blue Bluebird but now transitioning mics.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Tyler The Creator is really high up there, he is not afraid to try anything. Kendrick Lamar is another one that brings so much emotion and it shows. Kaytranada is heavy in rotation along with 9th Wonder for their groove pockets. The Alchemist for his approach to finishing and starting a process.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Instrumental based work, kids music, soundtrack vocals and more!
