Extraordinary to work with him !! Quality work big time !! Worked with him a lot of times, really gets the job done
Really recommending him.
I collaborated with Giovanni on a few projects so far, great guy to work with and easy to communicate with. More so, he’s a great mixing and mastering engineer, I was really happy with the results.
Giovanni was recommended to me during the lockdown period and I thought, yeah, why not giving a try. And I have to say, I did not regret it, very structured work, clear and quick communication, not too proud to react to suggestions or sound adjustments. Every review happened quickly and as expected. At the end we had a master everybody was satisfied with!
I collaborated with him for my last project and he did great! I really recommend him.
Interview with Giovanni Cordova
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: In 2021 digital has reached incredible quality and it's also faster in terms of workflow. Currently I'm in digital team.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The creative and multicultural environment, happiness and satisfaction after the client reaches high results with the record. When songs are played on the radio and loud in clubs/festivals.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Can I make it sound like that ?! Yes, and even better.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Select 3 of the providers that mostly attract you and are in your budget, get in touch with them and try to understand which one can really understand your vision and help you visualise the end result before starting to work at the project.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been doing this all my life. When I was 5 - 6 I had to watch my big brother's band lessons and I learnt how to recognise the role of every instrument back then already. Then I played a few instruments until I was 14-15 when I started producing. Mixing and Mastering came after that when I went to SAE in Amsterdam.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Always changing and evolving but balance and high quality clean sound are what I am.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Invest in your monitoring. This can be your room or a good pair of headphones.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Mainly Electronic music, Pop, hip-hop. But I've worked on Rock, Jazz, Classical Music, Folk, Metal, Dubstep.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work 85% in the box. This gives me the freedom to work all the time. Even if I am on a train or in my second setup. My main setup is composed by my laptop, near field monitors, two sets of headphones, two racks units and audio interface. I also have a few guitars, an 88 keyboard, a violin and a Subpac.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am really inspired by Mark Ronson, Diplo and Luca Pretolesi.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Usually I come in action right after or at the end of the songwriting. The client sends me the demo or the stems and I pick up the work from that point on to the master export. I also do a lot of mixing, mastering and stem master.
