If you're looking for smooth, angelic and soulful vocals you've come to the right place! I have won two national competitions in NZ and the US for voice/songwriting, written the Whole Food Plant Based Cooking show theme song and dedicated the last 10 years of my life to writing, playing and recording music.
Hey, I'm Talia Dalton!
I'm a hardworking, down to Earth songwriter, with a dynamic range suited to many styles like Jazz, pop, folk and R&B. Do you have an awesome track but no vocalist to tie it all together? Are you looking for someone who can create beautiful, swooning and complex harmonies? Do you need a skilled lyricist to write strong and meaningful lyrics for you? Or an accomplished songwriter to write catchy melodies to your music?
If you've said yes to any of these, you're in the right place! I have a very high standard of work and can guarantee that you will get incredible quality every time. (I do not offer mixing or mastering).
I really hope you like and vibe with what I have to offer, and can't wait to hear from you!

Talia wrote, performed, and recorded the theme song for our cooking show: The Whole Food Plant Based Cooking Show. Everyone loves the song and it is heard by over 200,000 viewers a month on our channel. Talia is incredibly detail oriented, professional, and highly skilled at her craft as a musician, singer, and song writer. Do yourself a favor and hire this young lady while you still can!
I reached out to Talia to collaborate on a video project in Fall 2020, featuring a couple of her songs which were just perfect for the program. In addition to delivering the video/song segments on schedule and to our exact specifications, the quality of her audio and video production was superb, not to mention her marvelous songwriting and performance abilities which led me to reach out in the first place! Talia not only has the talent, but also the work ethic and team spirit to get the job done and make plenty of musical magic along the way.
Talia has such an amazing presence about her. She is genuinely sweet, humble, charismatic, and most of all, an extremely talented singer. Her voice lights up a room and soothes the soul. We’ve been blessed to have her perform at our café twice. She’s is always welcome to perform at Asali Desserts & Café!
Interview with Talia Dalton
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am really proud of creating my first single, and also writing the theme song to the Whole Food Plant Based Cooking Show. For my single I put countless hours of work into creating something that was true to myself, and for the theme song, I created it in a day and found the whole project to be simple and rewarding.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am currently working on recording a live album of my original music, which will be composed of around 10 songs.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: There is an extremely talented and hard working musician named Axel Mansoor, who has an incredible range and beautifully, soulful voice. I would highly recommend him for any music projects you're looking to create in the future.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I can promise that you will love what we come up with and be extremely happy with my quality of work and voice.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The thing I like most about my job is that I'm doing what I'm most passionate about. Music as a whole. It doesn't matter if I'm writing and recording my own music, or doing the same for someone else, whatever project I'm doing I am committed and dedicated to it.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is your working style? Do you go with the flow, or make a solid plan before you start? Are you open to creative input from me?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Listen to my music samples, read some of these Q&A and see if you vibe with my style! If so, I think we could work really well together.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My guitar, ByerDynamic 770 Pro 80 Ohm headphones, MacBook, lemon tea (not gear, but necessary) and a condenser Mic.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My life has always been centered around music, and my goal has always been to be a musician. I've been singing my whole life, writing songs for 10 years, and playing guitar for 8. I have never had another plan for my life, and know that some way, some how I will succeed in my passion as a musician.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I can never quite fit my style into a genre, but it has elements of Norah Jones, John Mayer, Zee Avi, Ray LaMontagne, India Arie and Erykah Badu in it, along with some of my own unique spice.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Never force a project. If you feel stuck then listen to the song on repeat for a while and let your mind clear. There will always be something that will work, but getting caught up in the frustration of figuring that out can hold us back from actually finding it!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Normally I am working on writing and recording my original music, which ranges from indie to R&B.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My biggest strength is my voice. As I have practiced and grown my musical ability over the past 10 years, my voice has developed and changed into something very original to me. I have a dynamic range and can find softness, power and calm in my voice.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I like to think that I bring spirit and liveliness to a song. My voice can be very versatile, and deliver many different emotions to pieces that have different feels.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Once I get into a project, I will roll with it for 3-4 hours, and then step away to let my ears rest. After a little while I'll come and revisit what I've done and tweak and change what sounds out of place. As I'm working I'm analyzing rhythm, melody, harmonies and flow and working to create a cohesive piece. I am very meticulous about how everything sound which lends itself to creating clean and clear projects.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Musicians that really inspire me are Norah Jones, Leon Bridges, Bruno Major and Ray LaMontagne. They all have a timeless and soulful quality about them that I love, and I strive to incorporate that into my own sound.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work that I do for clients is record lead vocals for their tracks. They send me their projects and we discuss what they want the song to sound and feel like.
