Commercial quality productions/mixes with unlimited revisions and a quick turnaround time.
Before being a producer, I started my career as a session guitarist, and through that I was lucky to work with and learn from some of the best producers in the business. The lessons learned from that allowed me to grow my production skills over the years with a strong emphasis on songs and emotion, and with the musical skills of a studio musician to back up that production knowledge gained over many years of producing and playing on sessions with great producers.
I specialize in taking even the most rough phone voice note or demo and turning it into a radio ready production, no matter the genre. So whatever you have, wether it’s really developed, or just an idea or rough beat, I can help you turn it into a fleshed out radio ready track that will meet your artistic vision and goals.
To add to this, I offer unlimited revisions to all my clients – I do not stop working until you’re happy, so no need to worry about being charged for extra revisions. You will not be up-charged. Through all of this, I can promise quick responses to messages, and clear communication, usually resulting in a turnaround time of a rough draft in no more than two to three days, often way quicker.
I also play most instruments, and am adept at programming the ones that I don’t play. So no matter the genre, or the scope of the project, get in touch and lets chat about it!

check_circleVerifiedPaul has done a great job for me. The song that we worked on seems simple but it is deceptively complicated in its simplicity. He has been completely professional and completely patient and timely with the numerous changes I've requested. We will likely work on the next phase of it as well.

Interview with Paul Kinman
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love seeing artists of all levels get excited about us finding a direction for their song that both makes sense for who they are, but they also couldn’t have seen coming. I love getting the ‘why didn’t I think of that’ responses. Being able to be a part of an artist’s artistic growth is by far my favourite part of my job.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don’t forget to listen to your music through the ears of an uneducated listener. When people are working on their music, and this goes for both production and songwriting, I find the most common issue is a cluttered song/production. Often times there’s too much going on, so I find it’s helpful to listen to the song as best as you can as the average listener and make sure that the most important part of each section is shining, and everything else is supporting that and not getting in the way.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Communication. I have done this kind of remote music production work for many years. And as a result, I have gotten very good at interpreting even the most vague directions, and being able to tell what an artist is going for musically even by just hearing a rough demo or voice note. Musically, I would say it’s a strong songwriting ability and strong musicality. I tend to be good at knowing how to help a song flow the best possible way, and how to layer and write melodies that support the song’s story and dynamics the best way possible.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring an experienced extra set of ears. I feel like my job is to bring the best out of what the artist has started or the idea that they have, and helping them find the best version of it possible!
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start by talking to the artist about what their goals are for their project and what has inspired them thus far to create their music. Instead of imposing my own beliefs on them and changing who they are or what their music is, I believe that the role of a good producer is to help the artist find the best part of what they’re already doing and who they are artistically, and help them accentuate that part of their music. That’s how you get honest music that people can relate to, which is what we all want to hear. So the first bit of the job is me making sure I understand the artist’s vision, even if it’s a very general or small sliver of a vision. Once we have that down, we start going back and forth to try to make sure we get the best product possible. I believe strongly in bouncing ideas back and forth, as I think it gets you the best results artistically. After a few rounds of this, we usually get a finished product pretty fast.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Production, Mixing and Mastering. I do them separately, but often have clients have me do these as a bundle, going from an iPhone recorded demo of them singing their song that they send me all the way to a radio ready production.

- Mexican Rock Bands and Movie Scores!Nov 28, 2013
It's been a great two days tracking guitars for the Mexican rock band Luz-Polilla at the Rockspace Studios which is located within Garth Richardson's Fader Mountain Studios. One of the teachers from Garths Production school, Nimbus School of the Recording Arts, was fantastic enough to allow me to dash in and track the guitars for this record during his class time, having him and his students record me as part of their class! It was fantastic doing a great Rock album with some great people!
On the evening of the first day of this record I was also fortunate to get a last minute call to track some movie score stuff for an Australian horror movie with a fantastic Engineer/Producer Scott F Thompson! It was a pleasure working with him and a lot of fun playing on that score!! I can't wait to see the finished movie!
