Hey, I'm Mat. I am music producer and multi-instrumentalist from Montreal. I specialize in taking your demo to the next level and building a full arrangement around it
With now millions of streams in the past 3 years over diverse projects, I’d love to get to know up and coming artists/projects who could use a hand or are looking to collaborate.
I have been making music for over 10 years, in many styles. Building songs is what I do everyday.
My skill set is quite wide but my best work is in building vibes, songwriting, melodies (vocals) and mixing. I like to stay fresh and I always put in the hours to make sure everyone's happy. I like to get very involved and treat every project as if it were my own.
I excel in all variety’s of Folk, Indie Pop/Rock, Hip Hop and Soulful music. I am very attentive to tone and to each artists sound. I’m always searching/creating new sounds that are unique/memorable.
I can produce your music, I can mix it, I can help you finish a song you started in any way. I can do everything and anything from start to finish, but much prefer to get in early in the process.
More tracks can be sent upon request.

This is your guy. Amazing easy process. I wrote demo's sent them over to Mat and he just came up with these crazy arrangements and gave it a sound that I can't even believe is mine.
Thank you for inspiring confidence in me man

Interview with afrakite
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I think I would say don't overcomplicate stuff, and just focus on getting a good vibe
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop, guitar, babyface, C1, midi controller. I'd sneak my headphones under my shirt.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a mix room and simple mostly in-the-box setup consisting of A7X Monitors, an Imac 27 and RME converters. I mix through Pro Tools, and I like getting creative in Ableton Live. I have a location studio room setup as well, for live drums and recording. It's used more as a tracking environment. It's also setup to play live with monitoring for pre-productions and such. There's a few drum kits, plenty of guitars, basses, amps so full on ready for any type of production.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Music is so inspiring to me. It's my passion and I'm so glad I get to do it all day, everyday. I'm especially inspired by artists like Bon Iver, Sulfjan Stevens and Elliot Maginot who is a good friend of mine. They bring something fresh to the music scene and what they're doing just really touches me. I also really admire trend setters/and big pop productions like Billie Eilish, The Weeknd, Dua Lipa etc. The engineers and producers behind this stuff is fascinating to me.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My work is quite varied, but usually I'm producing as I really like to get involved in whatever I'm working on. I also do quite a bit of mixing and drumming.
