Mixing & Mastering & Session

Codrut Croitoru on SoundBetter

Hi, I’m Codrut Croitoru, music producer and mixing & mastering engineer. I help artists turn their songs into polished, emotional, radio-ready productions. I also work as a guitarist, keyboardist, and male vocalist. Let’s bring your song to life.

I’m a professional music producer, composer, and mixing & mastering engineer, with a degree in composition from the National University of Music Bucharest. Over the years, I’ve received multiple awards as a composer and have worked both locally and internationally as a singer, arranger, instrumentalist, and sound engineer.

I’ve collaborated with some of the most respected Romanian artists, including Dida Drăgan, Compact, Mesterii Rock, and Carmen Trandafir, and spent many years working in a top professional studio environment. Today, I run my own studio, where I work daily on a wide range of projects, helping artists bring their ideas to life.

As an artist, I’m the lead singer and songwriter of my bands Taylor (Romanian pop-rock) and Moontailors (international English pop-rock), and I’ve also been the lead vocalist for established rock acts such as Compact B and Mesterii Rock.

I’m also a multi-instrumentalist, recording guitars, bass, keyboards, and drums, and I regularly contribute as a session musician for various projects.

Whether you need a professional mix, master, full production, or instrumental/vocal support, I’m here to help you achieve a powerful, polished result. I’m also an experienced songwriter, open to selected collaborations where authorship and rights are respected.

Interview with Codrut Croitoru

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I’m especially proud of my work with my band Taylor, where I was involved in the entire process, songwriting, production, arrangement, mixing and mastering, as well as performing vocals and instruments. It represents my full artistic vision and experience.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I’m currently working on multiple projects, including my band Taylor and my international project Moontailors, where we are preparing new releases.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I think there are many good musicians here, but the propper answer should be given by the clients. I respect all of the soundbetter musicians but at the moment, I prefer to focus on my own services and collaborations.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I use both. Digital for precision and flexibility, and analog-style processing for warmth and character.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: To deliver a professional, high-quality result and to treat every project with care and attention to detail.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Helping artists bring their ideas to life and hearing a song reach its full potential.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Clients usually ask about turnaround time and revisions. I always explain the process clearly and make sure expectations are aligned from the beginning.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: One common misconception is that paying for a song means owning the songwriting rights. In reality, songwriting and performance rights are different, and it’s important to clarify this from the start in a professional way.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I usually ask about their artistic vision, references, goals for the song, and what stage the project is currently in.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Choose someone who understands your vision, not just someone who offers the lowest price.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: A laptop, audio interface, headphones, a MIDI keyboard and a microphone.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I’ve been studying and creating music since childhood. I trained in piano, vocals and guitar, then studied composition at the National University of Music in Bucharest. I worked in a major recording studio and later became lead vocalist of one of Romania’s most popular pop-rock bands, Compact B. I’ve released concept albums, written a musical, and worked as a songwriter, producer, engineer and multi-instrumentalist with many artists. I founded my band Taylor and the international project Moontailors, and I’m currently active as both artist and producer, as well as a vocalist and instrumentalist.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: A blend of modern production with classic influences, focused on emotion, clarity and strong musical identity.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would love to work with artists who value strong songwriting and emotional depth, regardless of their level of fame.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Always focus on the emotion of the song first. A great performance and feeling will always matter more than perfect technical details.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I mainly work on pop, pop-rock, rock and cinematic music, but I’m open to other styles as well.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is combining musical vision with technical execution, turning ideas into complete, polished productions.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring both musicality and technical precision, helping the song sound emotional, balanced and professional while preserving the artist’s identity. As a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, I can also contribute creatively to the performance.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I start by understanding the artist’s vision, then I work on the arrangement or mix, focusing on emotion, clarity and impact. I can also record additional vocals or instruments where needed, and refine the details through revisions until the track reaches its full potential.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I work in a professional home studio environment with high-quality monitoring, analog-style processing and modern digital tools. I also record vocals, guitars and keyboards in my studio.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you? I’m inspired by artists and producers who combine strong songwriting with great production, like Queen, Pink Floyd, Bryan Adams, and modern producers who blend classic sounds with a contemporary approach.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I mainly work on mixing, mastering and full music production, helping artists transform their songs into polished, emotional, radio-ready tracks. I also contribute as a vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist when needed.
