I am a professional composer (I graduated the National Music University Of Bucharest, class of musical composition). I obtained as a composer many prizes in my country. I realeased even internationally as a composer, singer, arranger, sound engineer and instrumentalist the conceptual progressive rock project "Taylor's Code"- Mirrors. I was, as well, the lead singer of one of the most loved romanian bands, Compact B, but also I play guitar, bass, keyboards and drums in the studio (working also as a session recording instrumentalist with many musicians). As a sound engineer, I worked 2 years in one of the best romanian studios-Migas Real Compact. I have now my own studio, where I work day by day, different type of projects, from different sides. I work with joy because I love music. Now I am the songwriter and the lead singer of Taylor, my own pop-rock band.

Interview with Codrut Croitoru
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am proud of every song i have wrote because, you know, they are all like my children. So I am proud of every single album I wrote. Of course, i love also other projects , where even if my role was just as an producer or sound engineer, they are also part of my life, aren't they so ?
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I do this for 22 years. I studied piano, vocal tehnique and guitar at the High School from my town, then I start writing songs for my band, I was then choosen to be the most important student of the songwriting class of the National Music University in Bucharest, then I 've worked in one of the most important music studios from my country, and until recently I was the lead vocalist in one of the most loved pop-rock bands in Romania, called CompactB. As a songwriter, producer, sound engineer, instrumentalist and arranger I worked with many artists, and I have also realeased two concept album under the name Taylor's Code("Mirrors" in 2015 and "Dream within a dream" in 2018) . I also wrote a musical. Now in 2020 i founded my own pop-rock group, Taylor, and I work on our first album with songs written, arranged, mixed and masterd by myself.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: As a Songriter, i would like to write songs for Bonnie Tyler, Rod Stewart and Celine Dion because I absolutely love their voices As a singer I would like to sing songs written by Diane Warren, Per Gessle,Andrew Lloyd Webber or Jim Steinman, i think they are my favourite songwriters :)
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I am a professional songwriter ( i studied songwriting at the National Music University in Bucharest). I am studying music since 1994, when i was 7 . I ve wrote more than 500 songs, and also have worked with many artists. I am also a well known singer in my country ( I was until recently the lead vocal of one of the most beloved bands in my country, called Compact B).I also own my studio (previously i worked in one of the biggest studios in my country)and i am also a mixing and mastering sound engineer.I am also a studio session instrumentist (I have studied the piano 12 years, guitars, vocal tehnique). I am also an arranger (I arrange all my songs) I love music, it is my life, and i love to work and communicate with people.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: There are many projects. I write songs for different artists, and now, in 2020, i write the first album of my own pop rock band:Taylor.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QgXfLM9bY9I This is "Caii apocalipsei", a song I wrote, I also arranged ,mixed and mastered. I am also the lead vocalist and the guitarist.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I think there are many good musicians here, but the propper answer should be given by the clients. I respect all of the soundbetter musicians.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: It really depends on the project we are talking about. It would be rather unprofessional to say i choose only one way ore another. Music is much more than analog or digital
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise them I will do my best and they won't be dissapointed.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I like everything, because music is my life. And I like talking and comunicating with musicians.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: The most common question they ask is.."When will you finish my project ? " Of course, there are different days, and different periods, I am spending my life between my own music studio (songwriting, singing, arranging, mixing and mastering) and my band tours, but, i promise you that i keep my promises about the deadline of your projects.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I think there are many misconceptions about many things, but the most hilarious one I ever met was about my job as Songwriter. I am talking about the fact that, ther are still some people in the world that still think that if the singer/band pays one songwriter to write him/them a song, then they also have the copywright of that song wich is COMPLETELY WRONG. I am a songwriter, you pay me for my work and for your right to sing MY song. But, being the songwriter, the song will always remain MINE, because that 's why I am the songwriter and you are the singer (the one that sings the notes I wrote). So, if the song will be succesful, I will take the copywright royalities as a Songwriter, and you, of course, will take the royalities as the interpreter(singer). Of course, this is a misconception met only when you talk with unprofessional people.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: There are many questions that I will ask, but the most important is, what is their vision about their music?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: It dependes on the project he wants to do together. I think the respect between eachother combined with the professional skills can make wonders on any music project
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: It is an interesting question, but i think the most important 5 pieces of gear that means life for me are our soul, our mind, our healthy, our imagination, and all the good music
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Melody is on the first place. Now and ever. Of course, then comes the tehnology
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, Rock, Pop-Rock, Soundtrack
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I love music, and all that music means. I also have a 22 years experience in this business. So, i will work with my heart and my soul and my brain.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: One of my clients told me that i bring an interesting atmosphere.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My typical work process depends of the job i am hired to do As a SONGWRITER I am, I first write the melody( the vocal melody of course), and then the other stuff..Of course, first of all, you will have to explain me what is your project about, it is a band, or a solo artist, and the most important, what is the vocal range of your singer (or your vocal range, in the case you are the singer), and of course, I will have to listen to a demo with that voice, because each voice has it's own things, that could inspire me to write a song for that particullary voice. If you hire me only as an arranger, then I promise i will listen very careful to your song, and i will try to feel it and love it like i do with my own songs. If you hire me as a sound engineer (mixing, mastering), i will give you many options, i will also advise you, and you will choose the version you like
