Kai is a musician, vocalist, guitarist, and producer best known as the creative force behind the award-winning Japanese metal project Esprit D'Air and as a guitarist/backing vocalist for iconic English band The Sisters of Mercy.
As a live performer, Kai has toured extensively across Europe, North America, South America, Asia, and Australia appearing at major venues and festivals with crowds up to 50,000, while building an international audience through both Esprit D'Air and The Sisters of Mercy. Esprit D'Air's independently promoted headline tours have included sold-out shows throughout the UK and Europe.
Kai's latest Esprit D'Air album, Aeons, reached #1 on the UK's Official Rock & Metal Albums Chart. Its predecessor, Oceans, entered the Official Rock & Metal Albums Chart at #8 and the Official Album Downloads Chart at #5. The project's debut album, Constellations, was also named Best Metal Album at the Independent Music Awards.
Kai is available for remote work in recording vocals (in Japanese or English), to guitar solo features, to full modern hard rock and metal, post-rock, shoegaze, and post-punk productions.

A: Both! Lately, more digital for efficiency.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: People think I am just a singer, but I also produce and record all the instruments in my music.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Make sure you have a clear vision of what you are looking for.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't fix it in the mix. If your recording doesn't sound perfect, keep practising it for the perfect recording.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I play hard rock, synth metal, and electronicore, but I am also open to power metal, thrash metal, and metalcore.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I like to think outside of the box. No simple pentatonic solos.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I just finished my 2nd album "Oceans", which entered the UK charts and has a lot of positive reviews from critics. I will be working on touring in the summer!
