Interview with Rafael Nicolau Gobbo
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Every successful job or project starts with good communication. So, first of all, I try to establish a good communication medium and relationship with my client. Then, the process is highly dependent on the type of work. If it is a mixing job for example, I first listen to the songs that are to be mixed and try to understand the influences and inspirations of the client, so I ask for references in order to understand what are the client's goals. After that, I ask the client to send me the multitrack so I can start working on the mixing. Constant communication is very important on this part. Then, after I finish the first option for the mix, I send it to the client and wait for approval / alterations.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have an acoustically treated room. My studio is equipped with state-of-the-art audio converters from Universal Audio, a pair of EVE's SC208 loudspeakers, Avid Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, and all the industry-standard audio plugins (Waves, Universal Audio, Softube, Fabfilter, and more).
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work I do is mixing and mastering.
