Nicolas Stella

Music Producer & Composer

Nicolas Stella on SoundBetter

I'm an international producer, composer and songwriter. Coming up with Hiphop/Electronic beats, writing + recording songs for singers and bands is what interests me the most.

My education and experience allow me to compose anything from Jingles to Jazzy-HipHop beats to Pop/House/Indie-Rock songs.

No matter what kind of project you have, I will enhance it and make sure you're happy with the end result. I'm always interested in being part of new projects.

Interview with Nicolas Stella

  1. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  2. A: From the few I know, Darren Carikas. Very professional.

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Although my favourite way of making music has always been analog I tend to blend both Analog and Digital to complement each other.

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: Bringing excitement, hope, enthusiasm or just a chill/mellow feeling to many audiences by creating music.

  7. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  8. A: That it's easy. Composition and music production is underrated, specially by fellow musicians. Many don't consider the sense of Rhythm nor the knowledge on Melody and Harmony one needs to have. Even less considered is the study of song structure.

  9. Q: How would you describe your style?

  10. A: Grounded, always blending --both, Complexity and Minimalism

  11. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  12. A: Chance The Rapper. He's an independent self-made, successful artist and I just love most of his stuff.

  13. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  14. A: Go back to your reference.

  15. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  16. A: (Jazzy)HipHop, Electronic and Alternative Indie.

  17. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  18. A: Composition.

  19. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  20. A: Harmony, excitement and depth.

  21. Q: What's your typical work process?

  22. A: First, the client and I pick out 2-3 references of what they want to achieve. Second, I come up with beats/lyrics/vocals and give them a couple of demos to choose from. Third, after trial and error I make sure the client is absolutely pleased with my job.

  23. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  24. A: Simple home studio: Behringer Mixer/Audio interface. H.Q. Monitors n' Amplifiers. Synths, Guitars n' Bass. Dynamic and Condenser mics. I also use different DAWs.

  25. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  26. A: Chance The Rapper, Damon Albarn, The Clash, Frank Ocean, Park Seat, The Ramones, Daft Punk, Pharrell Williams, David Pensado, Dr. Dre and many others.

  27. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  28. A: Well, mostly I divide it like this: -Beat making: It could be anything from House music to Indierock to HipHop -Song Composition: I provide both Music and Lyrics -Song Analysis + Production: I help clients take their songs to the next level. -Jingle Composition: I write Lyrics based on the client's campaign and give them a couple demos for them to decide on the beat's genre. -Background or Atmosphere Music
