I'm a producer & mix engineer based in France. I have the pleasure to work with greatly talented artists in the Pop & Underground Dance Music scene as a writer, producer and mixer (Madonna, Dimitri From Paris, Black Coffee, Martin Solveig, Mandar, Alex Metric, Los Amigos Invisibles, Bob Sinclar and many others).
Mix engineer for hundreds of tracks over the past 20+ years from Underground Club House Music to radio Electronic Pop through Disco.
As an artist and producer myself, I get the emotional engagement an artist puts in his music and my work is to make it shine.
Mixing is all about staying true to the emotions of a track or song while enhancing its groove and sound so it is radio ready and big in clubs.

I've worked with Julien on two of my latest releases, and couldn't be happier with the results. His approach to the mixes was so dedicated and you can hear it in the results. The stems I sent over sounded cluttered and busy, and Julien created space and warmth. The tracks were totally elevated, I would always be happy to trust Julien to get a record sounding amazing.
Julien has been my go to mix engineer for the past 15 years, and as such he is part of my sound as a producer. He is equally at ease with 100% electronic productions, as well as 100% acoustic ones, with every combinations possible. Julien will enhance your music, and make it shine in the realm you want it. His approach is always one tailored to the material you will give him, rather than applying a one size fits all formula. Julien is definitely someone you can trust with your music !
This guy is a blessing, he understands totally the vibe you want to communicate to your production.
I had a very complex projects, lot of samples, lot of raw gear recording, lot of back ground noise, I wanted to sound RAW but PRO.
I was stuck, coming over and over on my mix, but Julien was a game changer to me,
My tracks started to sound like solid pro mixed track without being sterilize, it was RAW but PRO.
Julien is just the man who can exactly understand what you want and what you need to lift up your music till the best level you can have and in any style. His artist sensibility makes his work relevant not only from a technical point of view, but also with a special feeling that only great producers like him can makes appears in mix engineering. His kindness and patience will also makes you feel totally confortable to talk about your project without any hesitation...

Interview with Julien Jabre
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: "How did you manage to do this ?" I simply explain :)
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: My sensitivity along with technics forged by 20 years of experience in the music industry and especially Dance music.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First i listen to the reference mix to catch the vibe and emotions of the record, and imagine what I should do. Then I ask the artist what he/she likes about it and what is to be improved. After that I organize my session the way I like it while checking each track individually and coloring to my taste. Usually I start mixing the drums then add bass looking for the best groove and bounce between these elements. Then comes the music and the vocals where the emotions are. I ll find the sweet spot between the energy and vibe and work around it placing each instrument in its own space. Then I ll go to a different room to play the mix on a bigger system (Pioneer TAD) and spend some time listening to the mix on my phone and headphones. Then go back make some tweaks before sending a V1 to the client. We will then go back and forth until and I'll ask for a precise list of comments and modifications.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My monitoring chain : dangerous convert 2 > preamp prototype > ME Geithain speakers & Reftones. Regarding the mixing process i work on Protools 12 or Logic 10. I come from the analog world and now love being all in the box with tons of new tools to make a great sounding contemporary record.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To take great care of their music and bring it to the next level.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I had the chance to produce and mix an entire album for The Joubert Singers with Phyliss McKoy Joubert. We re-recorded one of my favorite song ever "Stand on the Word" hearable in many films and series and played in clubs around the world.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am mixing the second album for an up and coming very talented and versatile artist somewhere between downtempo wanderings and house music.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital tools offer endless new possibilities and flexibility, which is very exciting to discover.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The cooking process to find that 'sweet spot' and finding it. At the end of the day my biggest reward is to know the client is pleased beyond expectations.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That mixing can turn a bad song/production into a great one. It just can not.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Where do you want to go with your song/track ? Radio ? Club ? Do you have reference tracks from other artists ? What do you like about your demo mix that you want to keep and what do you want me to improve ?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Communication & kindness are the key to a successful collaboration !
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A laptop, a chord hugo DAC, my Geithain speakers and a hammock
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started as a teenager producing undergound house music in the mid 90's. By the end of 90's I was mixing for many artists in the 'french touch' scene (Bob Sinclar, Dimitri form Paris, DJ Gregory, SOHA, Martin Solveig, Shazz, Chateau Flight...) and producing more and more music for myself. I've also been writing music for films and producing and mixing for other artist for the past 15 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Groove sensitive
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Mostly, but not limited to, music with a four on the floor kick drum. It can be disco (Chic, Sister Sledge, Sylvester...) to pop Dance Music (Martin Solveig, Black Coffee, TCTS) or underground House Music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Improving the groove of a song while enhancing the emotional aspect of it.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mix engineer, producer.
