Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: LISTENING TO DIFFERENT TYPES OF MUSIC AND MEETING DIFFERENT CHARACTERS AND ARTISTS EVERYDAY
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MIX AND MASTER MY SONGS Depends on the song, goal and the quality of the music I receive
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That it is easy ......
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: THEIR GOALD BEHIND THE SONG Asking for reference artists or tracks, Asking what emotions they would like people to feel when hearing their music, whats their goal and end reaction.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: FOCUS ON HOW EVERYTHING SOUNDS TOGETHER
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: ALMOST 15 YEARS , starting as an artist, then becoming a producer, mixing engineer and finally mastering, because I have been in almost all positions in music, it puts me at a great advantage in understanding peoples needs
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style changes depending on the genre of music I am working with, I tend to listen to many different genres of music from different eras in history so not to get caught up just in recently released music, different genres, different countries, cultures and a wide varied eclectic music taste impacts on my style and knowledge on music.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: BURNA BOY, REMA, Diplo, Tchami, Chris Brown, Maitre Gims, International artists .... loads more too many to name, anyone who has something special and unique when creating music is someone I am interested in working with.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: It is not just about making beats, producing something means creating something, not just sticking sounds together, when I produce I want to create reactions, emotive responses, feelings and experiences.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: WARMNESS, CRISPINESS, Open sounds, eclectic sounds and something unique, I like to get that wow factor from the customer and do unexpected things in the mix to their vocal and beat.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First things first I work with the artist to get an idea of what outcome they would like, I then ask them for reference tracks and I have my own reference tracks, I compare each step of my mixes to the sound of other reference tracks from mixes I am impressed by. I want to listen to every element of a song and listen to every instrument when I am mixing so everything fits nicely together and nothing is missed. I don't miss any sections and work to achieve harmony between vocal and song. I mix in mono. About 70% of my time mixing [I spend] listening to just one crappy speaker, so yes, in mono! My inspirations such as Ali and Dr Dre say if you can get something to sound amazing on crappy speakers, it’ll sound brilliant on normal speakers. So I try to get a great mix on the low level speakers like listening in the car or on phones etc, and then I’ll go to the Adams, Yamahas etc I mix on just one speaker, because listening in mono helps define sound. It’s difficult to assess your balance [in stereo], whereas when you listen in mono, you can gauge the true value of how everything sits in the mix. Without the support of stereo to give your mix separation, you are forced (in mono) to make better EQ, compression, and level decisions in order to get your mix to pop. If all you do is mix on nice studio monitors (or nice headphones) then you likely don’t have a good gauge of how your mix will hold up in the real world. Most people tend to playback music on low quality systems (laptop speakers, iPhone, bluetooth stereos, car speakers) So the mid range becomes really exposed. If you mix on a crappy, mid range heavy speaker then you’ll hear things you likely would have missed on your “nice” speakers. This can help you really fine tune a mix so it sounds good not just in your room, but everywhere on every sound system there is.
