Alex del Amo on SoundBetter

Sony Music, Armada Records or Smash The House are some of the labels where Alex del Amo has published. I have more than 15 years of experience not only producing electronic music but also mixing & mastering a wide rank of styles like edm, pop, trap… I prefer you to stop reading and start listening. Check out my demos! Can’t wait to work with you!

15 years, wow! You’ll be thinking that’s a lot of time, and yes, it is, but rather than time I prefer to think about it of experience. All these years I have had the opportunity of working with experienced and young artists, mixing and mastering engineers, A&R, managers, creative directors, sound designers… all of them had been part of and incredible journey that I would love to continue expanding with you!

As a music producer my specialization is electronic music, which comprehends from the most melodic house to the latest popular future bass, future house and electro. I’ve produced for experienced and young artists, and I also have had my own music projects, under my aka Alex del Amo or The House Rejects, projects that had taken me to the Billboard’s chart.

I specialize in vocal processing, empowering and bringing to the singer the brightness that your production will need, I also provide the perfectionism to your vocal layering and comping, and I could also tune them if they need it.

As a mixing and mastering engineer my philosophy is simple, keep the focus on the mixing and this, will not lead to a good master, this will lead to a masterpiece. If you need professional and good timing conditions, with no doubt, I am your mixing and mastering engineer.

I've been working with Alex since I started making music, he taught me most of the stuff I know and he still teaches me how to up my producing game. Every time I send him a record to mix and master not only he does his job perfectly, he also tells me on what I could improve for the next one. He is a true professional who is not scared in sharing his knowledge.

You should definitely checked him if you need to meet professional standards.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: A mix between them, because if you know how to do it, you can have the best of both worlds.

  9. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  10. A: My inspirations came from a very wide rank of generes, but If I had to mention some of them, I would say the sound of ILLENIUM, Bing Me The Horizon, Juliann James, C Tangana, Max Martin and Luca Pretolesi.

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: I define my studio setup as a a mix of an 'in the box studio' and a studio with external hardware (3 external units by the moment).

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: I use to do mix & mastering services for any kind of artist, it doesn't matter if they are experienced or not, specially electronic music. I stand out on vocal processing and I also offer music production services.

  15. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  16. A: I'll definitelly will for the vocal processing. But I need to say that with my experience in electronic and mainstream music, I know a lot of music clichés that gives to the music production a unique and special hook.

  17. Q: What's your typical work process?

  18. A: I would like to stress that the first step that I take into the production is that I work in order to make a personal connection with the costumer, we need to be able to communicate in a good way for the benefit of the production, I need to know your objectives and if you're happy with the results. For make this happen I would need some references, which is the sound that you're looking for? Let's going to achieve it. Once I started the job, I'll be in contact with you and I'll send as fast is possible, your first demo, once you've listened, you will have at minimum, 3 checks to ensure that you're happy with the results.

  19. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  20. A: With no doubt, you will be satisfied.

  22. A: Try it.

  23. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  24. A: Given the fact that it is only a fiction question and we don't need power batteries or electricity I would say: My Macbook Pro, UAD Apollo, the Shadow Hills Compressor, AKG and of course, my chair.

  25. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  26. A: I've been producing and mixing/mastering music since 2007 while I teach how to do it. It all begun with electronic music and then I started to apply my methods and knowledge to other styles like pop, rock & trap.

  27. Q: How would you describe your style?

  28. A: Powerful and effective sound.

  29. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  30. A: I would love to work with Chainsmokers, they mix between pop and electronic music with they unique sound and characteristic mainstream basics it's something that doesn't stop of surprise me.

  31. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  32. A: Of course! As a music producer instructor I love to share tips & tricks! Parallel compression for drums with Shadow Hills (Plugin Alliance). And If I have to say one tip more coaching-orientated: Constancy is the clue.

  33. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  34. A: When we achieve our objective and the job ends with a happy costumer.

  35. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  36. A: - Price?: Let's talk about this! - Timing? Faster than you will desire.

  37. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  38. A: They use to think that I work with a lot of plugins on the master chain, but they fail, the mix is what's matter and remember, less, is more.

  39. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  40. A: I like to request some references. I use to ask technical questions, like the key of the track, which plugins and software they've used for the production and more. Timings and objectives for the production are vital por the workflow.

  41. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  42. A: I'm specialized in electronic music, styles like house, techno, edm (future house, future bass, big room, bass house,electrohouse...) progressive house, trance... but in the latest days I've been working on a pop-rock album that I hope to share with you as soon is possible!

  43. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  44. A: I know that what I'm going to say could sound a little bit cliché but I won't stop till the job is as perfect as it can be. The perfectionism has brought to me amazing skills and all this years, a lot of job opportunities. You don't know if I am capable of achieving a new or difficult sound? Don't worry, I'll show you that all it's possible.
