Cynthia Sayer is regarded as one of the top 4-string jazz banjoists worldwide, An American Banjo Museum Hall Of Famer, she's an experienced recording artist who has played on feature film and tv soundtracks, commercials and more. She has recorded on banjo, uke, tenor guitar, vocals & piano, in Hot Jazz/Swing to Americana to Punk Rock and more.
Praised for her “drive and virtuosity” by The New York Times, instrumentalist/vocalist/bandleader Cynthia Sayer tours worldwide with her bands and as a guest artist. An inductee into the American Banjo Hall Of Fame and the first 4-string banjoist to be on the cover of AFM's International Musician Magazine (Jan 2021), Cynthia is the first banjoist to win the 2019 Bistro Award and 2018 Global Music Awards. In 2018 Cynthia was also the first 4-string jazz banjoist ever featured at the iconic Newport Jazz Festival.
Cynthia’s 9 feature albums have received rave reviews and multiple "Best of" nominations & awards in various categories, and she's on many other albums/recording projects. She played at The White House, performs with symphony orchestras, was the official banjoist for The New York Yankees, and is the subject of a Trivial Pursuit question.
Sayer first rose to international prominence as a founding member of Woody Allen's New Orleans Jazz Band, and has played with many leading jazz, popular, and roots music artists -- see Additional Credits for a limited sample.
