I'm a singer, music producer, mixing engineer and platinum awarded songwriter from the heart of Sweden. I run my own record label and publishing 'Swandive Records' and have been working as a live performing artist and a studio music producer for more than 10 years straight.
No matter which part I play in a project I always focus on the one and only important thing, the song. I’m always looking for that one thing that really sticks out that can make a good song great!
Unless it's an instrumental track the vocals, the lyrics and the melodies are always the main attraction to the listener and I work hard to make everything sit perfectly around that performance to make sure the message cuts through.
As a vocal performer I'm pretty versatile in the pop/singer-songwriter spectrum and the character in my voice is often described as unique and original.
Over the years I've been singin' to everything from acoustic singer/songwriter ballads to
upbeat electronic pop tracks.
Just throw me a bone and see if it's a good match! :)
As a Music Producer and Mixing Engineer I've been doing everything from acoustic/singersongwriter/folk and indiepop to kick ass country rock songs.
I would describe most of my producing as 80% organic with a 20% modern electronic pop edge.
I strive to bring the best of the old organic vibes into a radio based 2020 market.
And hey, If there's one thing I love about making music it is breaking the rules and exploring new ground!
Don't hesitate to send me your project. I'd be happy to help out!
I'm also a platinum awarded songwriter if you need my writing support!

Interview with Richard Alex
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started out as a musician in 5th grade playing the guitar and singing in different bands. About 15 years ago when I was at the age of 19 and quit school I decided to provide for myself as full-time musician and that’s what I’ve done ever since. It was’t that easy to begin with as you can imagine 😂 But I’ve been a performing artist with my band playing more than 2000 shows the last 15 years and that’s a journey I do not regret. The last 10 years I’ve been writing and producing music both for my own projects and external clients and the last few years I’ve been flying in an out of UK frequently for different projects. But since covid-19 broke out I’ve been working full-time in my own studio in Sweden. Lucky we have the internet! 🤓🌍
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I think that would be Ryan Tedder. I would just love to be in the same room and share his creativity and passion for music! I know for sure none of us would leave the room with something half-hearted 😅
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Haha, DON’T use the compressor before the song is written! I still do that all the time 😂🤯
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I usually produce tracks from scratch out of a simple guitar/piano version of a song. I also mix and master all of my productions if the client doesn’t prefer some else to do it of course. At times when I’m also the writer or the co-writer of a song I usually jump straight into the producing process during the writing.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work a lot on my own songs which is in the pop/singer-songwriter genre. But I also do a lot of country/pop/rock producing for other artists. So I would say my producing leans towards the organic musician sound but I love crossing borders to bring that modern pop edge into my work. It all depends on the song. If I’m working with a client I always focus on their needs and wishes. I’m extremely versatile that way!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work in a professional acoustic treated environment. My setup is a great mix of quality and workflow which suits my needs. I work in Logic X on an iMac computer with plugins from FabFilter, Soundtoys, Universal Audio, Native instruments, Waves etc. I use a Swedish Quality Condenser Mic from ‘Ehrlund’ called ‘EHR-M’ and an Universal Audio Tube-preamp which gives me high end quality vocals and acoustic guitars in my room with great acoustics. I use audio interfaces from SSL and Apogee and the speakers I use for Mixing/Mastering is Adam A7X with a subwoofer. I use a Kemper amp for electric guitars and I have a proper selection of guitars from Gibson, Fender etc. But above all, my studio is cosy as hell and the vibe is awesome! :)
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I’m truly inspired by singers with unique soulful singer/songwriter voices like john mayer and james morrison. As a producer and a writer I’m a huge fan of Ryan Tedder. Such a gifted singer as well! I just love the organic crossover productions they did with OneRepublic on the ‘Native’ Album.
