Owner / Chief Mastering Engineer. 22 years in the music industry and specialize in mastering. Check out the A/B. Starts with unmastered and the mastered file is the larger waveform at the end.
Absolutely top level mastering with great gear and reasonable pricing. Mastering is not just about level. Also notice the better control in the bottom, smoother top, bigger width, and better depth among other things.

Prompt, Quality Service!
This is the kind of mastering that will truly take your music to the next level. Matt preforms more than just correction, but enhances the mix in a very creative and musical way. With Combover Mastering, you can rest assured that no stone will go unturned when it comes to creating a perfect master.
I've known engineers that charge double for masters that aren't even half as good as what I've heard Matt do. He's hands down the most talented mastering engineer I've ever worked with. The man is a magician! And what's even more amazing is that he has ZERO EGO. He's the nicest guy you could ever work with.
Matt and Combover mastered my first full length CD and I can't tell you how many comments are made about the production quality of the CD. If it's up to me, I'll always use Combover from here on out.
Combover IS the Mastering company for me. I've done many types of recordings, from commercials, to radio, advertisements, music for television, sound tracks, movie scores & various types of CD's. Combover's motto should be "Combover Cares." If you want it done right, then you better ask Matt to do it!!! Combover Mastering, for the working musician!
In the vast expanse of a timeless place, where silence rules the outer space, ominously towering it stands...Combover Mastering. It is henceforth, and forever more shall be, excellence in mastering personified. It is the height, width, and depth of musical craftsmanship, congealed and condensed into a single human entity...Matt Whatley!

I utilized Combover to master my first full length studio album and I was beyond satisfied with the final product. Matt is talented and loves what he does. Can't go wrong with Combover.
Matt is an amazing guy who offers some of the best customer service and quality mixing and mastering work you will ever find. I highly recommend him!

Matt always does an excellent job for us! No matter what the genre, if we provide input beforehand or just let him do his thing, the masters are always magical! (And loud!)
I have used Combover's and Matt Whatley's expertise for almost 20 years with all of my projects that need that extra oomph in the final stages. Not only is he a great mix engineer, but one of the best kept secrets in the mastering realm. Highly recommended!
Interview with Combover Mastering
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Folk often confuse mixing and mastering. Completely separate and completely different processes.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Instinctive Mastering
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start with a corrective process. Basically frequencies I feel are too much for a mix or distracting I try to take care of first. I also like to handle any mid-side equalization at this stage for added width or depth if needed. Then it's on down the chain and a bit more creative. You have to have a great starting point first. Compression as or if needed, broad stroke EQ, limiting etc.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Changes all the time. Currently: Urei 546 Jim Williams modded EQ, HCL Varis, Chandler Curve Bender, Hendy Analog Stage, Custom Roy Delgado monitors, Burl Converters.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I have many professionals that have helped me along through the years at developing my craft. Far too many to list. I don't want to leave anyone out. There are also many albums that I absolutely love and love the mastering work on. Jeff Buckley's Grace album and Steely Dan's Aja to name a few.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Audio Mastering. I have a wonderful analog chain and wonderful monitors. More importantly, I have been mastering for over 22 years. I'm very passionate about it and think like a mastering engineer. Mastering is a unique process and one must think in terms of best possible finished product.
