Interview with Raffaele Rossi

  1. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  2. A: Leave some blank space at both the beginning (to preserve early transients) and at the end (to let the long reverb tail decay naturally) of your track. I can make discounts for multiple songs or for continuous work or if you become a regular customer. If you can export 32-bit tracks I don't care about the headroom, it's because, thanks to that format. the dynamic range is almost unlimited. I'm afraid they are not already over-compressed, I need a RMS of at least -8dB, preferably -10dB. You will again have a 16bit Wav file suitable for digital distribution but, if you request it, also a 24bit and / or MP3 file. Certainly if there are aspects of my mastering that do not satisfy you, you will report what you do not like and we will find a way to solve it together. Also, if you have reference tracks that your tracks must look like, please give them to me.

  3. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  4. A: One of the works I'm particularly proud of is the album I mastered for Noiutéka Collective. A collective of London artists in which in a single album they blend many musical genres ranging from RnB, Trap. Hip Hop etc.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: The promise I often make is to have a sound like their favorite referance.

  7. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  8. A: In what format do you need the song and how will it be completed? A: I need the files in WAV, AIF or BWF at the same sample rate used in your work session, for example 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96 kHz etc, and with a resolution of at least 24 bits thank you.

  9. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  10. A: I have been working in the post production and mastering field for 12 years.

  11. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  12. A: Thanks to my studies and a degree in sound engineering, I was able to know any problem that can be found in any genre

  13. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  14. A: Attention to detail is my first goal

  15. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  16. A: For me it is essential to obtain a detailed and defined sound but surprisingly complete in all frequencies.

  17. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  18. A: I work mainly ITB (In the box) this choice falls in the fact of being able to have more versatility in my workflow by combining the best tools for a completely unique, three-dimensional and enveloping sound. I mainly rely on audio acoustic products that I have been beta tester for Erin, combined with other tools such as Plugin Alliance and SSL and many others such as; Brainworx, Elysia, Softube, DMG, TC Electronic, Sonnox, Waves ...

  19. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  20. A: The work that I am often asked to do is mastering mainly for streaming and often for vinyls. But those who need help are open to mixing and stem mastering.
