Interview with Arpit G

Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
Rula Diya was released in April 2016. It took MTV india and all music outlets in India by storm! I was involved in it from writing the melody, lyrics, music production, mixing and mastering.
What are you working on at the moment?
Scoring a feature film including four songs for its OST
Analog or digital and why?
Its hard to tell the difference in 2016! If it sounds good - doesn't matter where it came from.
If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
Logic Pro, Midi controller, and SM57
Can you share one music production tip?
I have a whole channel on youtube where I share music production tutorials but one tip I can give is make a track with four basic tracks and if you like it dive head in and make it a banger.
What type of music do you usually work on?
Pop, RnB, Future RnB, Light rock, Bollywood & World Music, Orchestral, Experimental including electronic dance music
What's your strongest skill?
Music production and hook writing
What do you bring to a song?
With experience in classical western and indian background. I bring a lot of innovative melodic ideas that turn into ear worms along with production experience of working in over 40 jingles and multiple soundtracks.
What's your typical work process?
I usually sit down with the artist and discuss their influences and get a better understanding of what the song is trying to say. From there on comes the scratch of the production as well as melody and song writing. Then the post production starts and once the singer is happy with the sound we take it to the next level - do vocal production - mix and master the track!
