Interview with Elviss Pētersons
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've graduated musical school and have been writing songs all my life, and for the past few years I've been focusing more on music production, mixing and mastering particularly. I've been very fortunate to work with award winning producers.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't waste your time on small details in the beginning! When starting a new song, It's better to have a rough demo of the whole song, than getting stuck on the production until you've lost your drive to finish the whole thing.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop music, but have done some country and rock'n'roll as well.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I always focus on bringing the record to life - if it feels good when listening, then I've done my job the best I can.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work with Logic Pro X.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I've always looked up to John Mayer's music, as well as Bruno Mars', and legends like Etta James, Stevie Wonder, Dean Martin, Ray Charles, Tom Jones have always inspired me since I started doing music.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I'd say I'm best at mixing & mastering, however I often produce and write lyrics as well. I have wrote more than a hundred songs, not saying that all of them are release-material, but I'm confident that I've had enough experience to say I'm good at what I do!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Right now I'm working on my own album.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: It's fun! Bringing a song to life, making it radio-ready. Even if it can get frustrating, it's always a pleasure to work on new music and do my part of the whole project.
