Hey! I’m Michael, I’m a session drummer, I run Noisemaker Sound Co. a studio specializing in drum production and recording.
My name is Michael Farina and I'm independent drummer based out of Toronto, Canada. I’ve been performing and recording with artists locally and internationally for nearly 15 years. Nowadays I run a personal studio specializing in drum production and recording called Noisemaker Sound Co.
In the past I've worked with artists and bands like The Band Lemon (Jesse Lawson/ex-Sleeping With Sirens), Wolf Saga, Poro, Goodnight Sunrise, Malacoda, Favvkes and many more!
My goal is to find the perfect part, sounds and vibe to help bring your music and your vision to life. Whether you need just an acoustic drum track, or to layer programmed drums, or percussion overdubs, or a mix of all three, I'll be sure to put in the time and energy your project requires to sound its best!
I will send you 3 full takes of mix-ready, up to 14 multitracked stems plus any overdubbed percussion and programming required for the production, one-shot samples from the session as well a reference mix. Any revisions required are included.
Let's make great music together!

Michael is very professional. He can come up with great ideas of his own or perform ideas that you've mapped out for him. I really appreciated his willingness to do several takes until I felt it was right. I've really enjoyed working with him and definitely will again!

Michael was communicative his entire time, updating me on tracking and how it was going. Asking about any changes that need to be made and his ending result was fantastic. Supplying me with a already mixed drum track and the RAW. He goes above and beyond in all ways.

My collaborations with Michael continue, and he never disappoints. Michael understood the concept really well and he was able to put his own signature sound which elevates the song.

I knew I needed to work again with Michael and his powerful drums right after our first collaboration! He definitely delivered beyond what I was expecting, he provided a very versatile and high-quality sound and really understood the vibe I was looking for, taking my work again to the next level. The tracks for these 3 new songs came in really fast and surprised me in a very good way - I really recommend working with Michael, and I am looking forward to collaborate with him in the future!

Interview with Michael Farina
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Once you’ve sent me your music and we’ve discussed your vision for the production, I’ll choose drums, cymbals and other sounds that I feel are right for the song. From there I’ll record three takes and send them over to you alongside one-shot samples from the session as well as a reference mix of one of the takes. If I nailed it, then great! If not, let’s discuss what worked and what didn’t and I’ll send you any revisions you feel are needed.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Generally, my main role for a session is to send mix-ready drum stems of the best possible performance. Lately, the genres that tend to "come through my door" are rock, indie-rock, pop-rock, alt-rock, alt-pop, metal.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I like to chat first, before setting up a session. It's not always easy to know who the right guy is for the job, and sometimes, that might not be me, and thats cool. I'm always honest, and if there's something I feel like I'm not right for, I'll tell you. Let's chat first, let me hear some of your music, let's get on the same page, and then nail it!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Mics/Audio Gear: Warm Audio, Lauten Audio, AKG, Shure, 12Guage Microphones, Sennheiser, Focusrite, Alclair, Rode, Logic Pro X. Drums/Cymbals/Percussion: Dream Cymbals (15"-24" Crashes/Rides/Hats), PDP Classic Maple (24/13/16), YC Drum Company Kit (20,10,12,15), Snares from Ludwig(Acrolites/Supraphonics), YC(Maple/Brass), Tama (Brass/Kapur/COB), PDP(Maple). Multiple materials, sizes, builds of Shakers, Tambourines, various hand percussion.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: We don't give up on a drum track 'till its 100% right.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I'm always creating, always challenged, and always learning.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Mostly indie-pop, and indie-rock or alternative. The occasional heavier rock, punk or metal sessions come through and those are a lot of fun too!
